School Principal's Message

Dear Reutter School Families/Guardians,

I am sending this special early edition of our weekly message to provide important reminders regarding several exciting events and field trips taking place this week and next. Please review the details below carefully to ensure our students are prepared for these upcoming opportunities.

Upcoming Field Trips & Early Arrivals

Sixth Grade Trip to Washington, D.C. (Thursday, April 16):

All sixth-grade students and chaperones must arrive at Reutter School by 5:30 AM. We will begin boarding the buses as soon as they arrive, with a departure time of 6:00 AM. Please ensure your child and chaperone is on time so we can begin our journey to the nation's capital as scheduled.

Fifth Grade Trip to the Battleship New Jersey (Friday, April 17):

Our fifth grade students will be heading to the Battleship New Jersey this Friday. Students and chaperones are reminded to bring along a bag lunch. It promises to be an educational and memorable day on the waterfront!

Weather Alert & Field Trip Preparation

We are anticipating higher-than-average temperatures for the remainder of this week. For all students attending field trips, we strongly encourage the following:

Appropriate Clothing: Wear lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for the heat. Please wear comfortable sneakers on the field trips.

Hydration: Bring extra water bottles to stay hydrated throughout the day.

Sun Protection: We recommend bringing sunglasses and hats for outdoor activities, especially on the DC trip.

Looking Ahead to Next Week:

Delsea Middle School Preview (Tuesday, April 21):

Our sixth grade students will participate in a special DMS Preview presentation. We are excited to welcome the Delsea Middle School Assistant Principal, who will speak with our students about the transition to seventh grade and what to expect next year.

Character Trait Color Day

Friday, April 24: This Friday is a Character Trait Color Day! We invite all students and staff to wear grey to represent our character trait of the month: Perseverance.

Thank you for your continued support of our school and our students.

Sincerely,

Mr. Theodore Peters

Principal

A Reminder Message About the Student Dress Code

April 13, 2026

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As the weather warms up and we transition into the spring season, we often see a natural shift in student wardrobes. While we welcome the sunshine and the energy it brings to our classrooms, we want to ensure that our school environment remains a focused, safe, and respectful place for all children to learn. To help your family prepare for the coming months, we would like to provide a friendly reminder regarding our district’s Dress and Grooming Policy (Policy 5511). In making the determination for appropriate school dress, the administration considers three important areas: modesty, cleanliness, and safety.

As students reach for lighter clothing, please keep in mind that certain styles are not considered appropriate for the public school setting. We ask that shirts, blouses, and dresses provide full coverage, avoiding bare backs or midriffs. Additionally, we require that all shorts and skirts reach the student’s fingertips in length. Items such as bike shorts, inappropriately tight clothing, tank tops, and sleeveless shirts are to be avoided. We also ask for your help in ensuring that clothing is free of inappropriate messages or pictures, and that headwear, including hats, hoodies, and non-religious coverings, are removed once students enter the building.

Safety is our top priority, particularly during recess and physical activities. For this reason, all footwear must cover the entire foot, and any laced shoes must be tied securely. If your child wears shoes with light-up elements, please ensure they are turned “off” during the school day; shoes containing roller skates are not permitted at school. Furthermore, we ask that students not wear jewelry on days they have Physical Education class. Any jewelry or costume accessories that could compromise a student’s safety or physical movement will need to be removed. Please note that school personnel cannot be held responsible for any items that are lost or missing.

Our goal is always to keep students in the classroom where they can learn. If a student is found to be dressed inappropriately, we will first provide them the opportunity to change into appropriate attire if it is available. If suitable clothing is not available, the student will be removed from class, and parents will be notified. Please be aware that this may result in an unexcused absence for the day, and continued violations may lead to further disciplinary action.

We appreciate your partnership in helping our students dress for success. By following these guidelines together, we ensure that our students can stay focused on their studies and enjoy a safe, productive remainder of the academic year.

Thank you for your continued support of our school community.

Sincerely,

Mr. Theodore Peters

Principal

Fifth Grade Egg Drop

Our fifth grade students recently showcased their engineering skills during an egg drop experiment in science class. To prevent their eggs from breaking, students applied physics concepts to design and build custom protective containers using materials like foam, cardboard, and bubble wrap. This hands-on project allowed the students to test their prototypes, analyze the results, and learn firsthand about the importance of impact protection and the scientific method.

Sixth Grade Women's History Month Research

Throughout the month of March, Reutter School sixth graders celebrated Women’s History Month by engaging in a detailed research and presentation project. Students explored the lives of various influential women, focusing on their unique contributions to society throughout history. As part of this cross-curricular assignment, the students created informative visual aids to support their research and delivered oral presentations to their classmates and district administration. This initiative provided a valuable opportunity for students to strengthen their academic skills while recognizing the significant impact women have had across various professional and social landscapes.
