CTMS Family Newsletter

Wonderful Wolf Families,

Welcome to September-eve!

We have successful completed the first 2 1/2 weeks of school. This coming Friday marks the three week grading mark which will result in the first progress report of the school year. In the meantime, check Skyward to see how classes are going as this is how grades are communicated in middle school.

Monday is Labor Day. CTMS will be closed on Monday. Happy three day weekend! Looking forward to seeing our wolves back on campus on Tuesday, September 2!

Thank you for taking time to read the Wolf Weekly each Sunday!

Howl,

Jamie Halliburton

Destination Imagination Global Finals Renaissance Award Winners

At Monday's school board meeting, the MisGnomers, a team of seventh grade wolves, who competed in May at the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2025 , were recognized.. The team competed in the Middle Level Engineering Challenge and presented a creative solution featuring a circus of penguins fleeing a destroyed Antarctica. A key challenge requirement was to build a transporter that moved weights along a tournament-provided device. The team spent hundreds of hours on their solution and created 15 different versions of their transporter. Out of 600+ teams that advanced to Global Finals worldwide, MisGnomers was one of only 21 recognized with a prestigious Renaissance Award honoring their “15 concepts of transporters and an amazing presentation of the team’s entire DI journey.” This award recognizes those who demonstrate outstanding skill and effort in the areas of design, engineering, execution, or performance. Howl to Grace, Samar, Grayson, and Zia! Howl to Alyx Vu for being the team’s manager! The pack is proud of you!

SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program Preview SOS Signs of Suicide Prevention Program Preview

Wednesday, September 3, 10:00am & 6:00pm

The adolescent years are marked by a roller-coaster ride of emotions—difficulty for youths, their parents, and educators. It is easy to misread depression as normal adolescent turmoil; however, depression (among the most common of mental illnesses) appears to be occurring at a much earlier age. Depression—which is treatable—is the leading risk factor for suicide. To proactively address these issues, GCISD offers depression awareness and suicide prevention training as part of the SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program. The SOS Signs of Suicide® Prevention Program is designed for all secondary students grades 6-12. The GCISD School Health Advisory Committee has previewed and recommended these programs for all GCISD secondary schools.

A parent preview of the program will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 10:00am & 6:00pm at the GCISD Administration Building – Board Room, 3051 Ira E. Woods, Grapevine, Texas 76051.

Students must have school counseling services consent form completed in Skyward in order to participate in guidance lessons. For more information, including information about how to opt your student out of the Signs of Suicide program, please click here: English Spanish

At Cross Timbers Middle School, student presentations will occur on September 15 (7th/8th) during 5th period and September 17(6th) during during pre athletics. Questions about SOS and CTMS students may be directed to Allyiah Daniels at allyiah.daniels@gcisd.net or (817) 251-5323.

Drop Off & Dismissal

Drop-off and pick-up occur in TWO locations: In the parking lot outside the academic halls at the B-hall door and outside the SAC. Thank you for waiting in carline and letting your wolf exit. It takes a few minutes to drop off and pick up over 800 wolves!

For the safety of all wolves, thank you in advance for driving slowly, keeping cell phones away, and staying alert and aware of others.

B-Hall Door

For drop-off and pick-up, the parking lot across from the football field is two lanes. Pull into the lane you will be exiting from, if you are turning right out of the parking lot, drop off and/or pick up your wolf in the inside lane (closest to the building) and if you are turning left out of the parking lot, drop off and/or pick up your wolf on the outside lane (closest to the football field). Also, please pull all the way up to let your wolf out of the vehicle. The doors to the school open at 7:45 a.m. and school dismisses at 3:35 p.m.

SAC Doors

This is a single lane drop-off and pick-up. The driveway is not for parking. If you need to assist your wolf, please park in a non-reserved space.

Personal Technology at School

House Bill 1481 prohibits the use of personal communication devices during the school day. Middle school students may use telecommunications devices before and after school. They may not use telecommunications devices during school hours except for their school issued devices.

What does this mean for the wolves?

  • Personal devices will be in bags, not on wolves, throughout the entire school day.
  • Families needing to relay messages can leave messages with the front office staff and office aides will deliver messages to classrooms.
  • Wolves needing to contact families can use the phone in the front office during passing periods and lunch or, when appropriate, in their classrooms.
