Thank You to Our Coupeville Families

Dear Coupeville Families,

As the 2024 year comes to a close and we prepare for the holiday break, I want to express my sincere gratitude for your support of our students and our schools.

Your partnership in your child's education is incredibly important to us. From attending school events and volunteering in classrooms to providing a supportive and encouraging home environment, your contributions make a profound difference in the lives of our students.

We understand that navigating the challenges of the school year can sometimes be demanding. Thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our dedicated staff.

I encourage you to prioritize family time and self-care during this break. Create cherished memories with your loved ones and find opportunities to rest and recharge.

Wishing you and your families a joyous and peaceful holiday season filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.

Sincerely,

Shannon Leatherwood , Superintendent

Successful Toy Drive!

Fundraiser: This was one of our most successful yet, and I can't tell you how grateful we are. These dollars help to pay for new basketballs, uniforms, leadership materials, our banquet, our trip to CWU, and so much more. We rely on these fundraisers to cover so much of what we do -- and please know that we are so appreciative of you, your family, and friends for the willingness to support the team.

Toy Drive: The boys and girls teams together collected over 200 items to donate to Holiday House this year. Ultimately the girls did pull out the victory with a big last second push - but the real win in all of this is overflowing boxes of gifts that Holiday House gets to pick up today to help families in need this season. Thank you (and our boys) for your generosity!

Budget Committee Needed

Dear Coupeville School District Families,

We are excited to invite you to be a part of our district's budget planning process for the upcoming year.

Beginning in December, we will be forming a collaborative budget committee that brings together diverse perspectives to shape the financial future of our district.

Our approach is straightforward: we believe that the most effective budget decisions happen when all voices are heard. This isn't just about balancing numbers—it's about investing in our community's most precious resource: our students.

We are seeking passionate parents, community members, and stakeholders who are interested in:

  • Understanding our district's financial landscape
  • Contributing innovative ideas for resource management
  • Working together to support our educational goals

The budget committee will be organized to ensure a balance in voices including:

  1. Student Representatives
  2. Community and Family Representatives
  3. Staff
  4. Administration and Directors

Your participation will be crucial in helping us:

  • Generate creative solutions for financial sustainability
  • Ensure minimal disruption to core educational services
  • Make data-driven decisions that prioritize student success

We're looking for individuals who can commit to:

  • Attending approximately 90% of meetings
  • Communicating effectively to reach consensus on priorities
  • Listening actively
  • Representing our community's diverse interests

If you are interested in joining this important work, please fill out the survey below to provide more information. Please stay tuned. Our goal is to begin meetings in January. We will hold these meetings in the evening on Wednesdays and the time will be around 90 minutes beginning at 5PM.

Together, we can create a budget that reflects our community's values and supports our students' bright futures.

Sincerely,

Shannon Leatherwood, Superintendent
