Welcome Back Message
Welcome Back Panthers
Dear Hilsman Middle School Families,
Welcome to a new school year at Hilsman Middle School! We are excited to partner with you as we begin another year of learning, growth, and opportunity for every student.
At Hilsman Middle School, we believe every child has unique gifts, talents, and unlimited potential. Our mission is to empower students to discover their individual excellence by providing rigorous learning experiences, meaningful relationships, and opportunities that prepare them for success in school and beyond.
Our theme for the 2026–2027 school year is:
Pursue Excellence. Practice Excellence. Produce Excellence.
This theme is more than a motto—it is a shared commitment that will guide everything we do. We will pursue excellence by setting high standards for learning, behavior, and character. We will practice excellence by embracing hard work, perseverance, and continuous growth each day. Together, we will produce excellence as our students achieve academically, grow socially and emotionally, and develop into confident leaders.
We know that student success is strongest when schools and families work together. Excellence is not achieved alone. It is built through the collective partnership of parents, students, teachers, staff, and our community. Together, we will encourage, challenge, and support every student as they discover their individual strengths and reach their fullest potential.
As parents and guardians, your involvement is invaluable. Whether it is ensuring your child attends school daily, encouraging positive study habits, celebrating successes, or maintaining open communication with teachers, your partnership makes a lasting difference in your child's educational journey.
This school year, we are committed to creating a culture where every student feels valued, challenged, and inspired to become the very best version of themselves. We look forward to working alongside you to ensure our students not only achieve excellence but also develop the knowledge, skills, and character necessary to thrive in an ever-changing world. Thank you for entrusting us with your child each day. We are honored to serve your family and look forward to a year filled with growth, achievement, and celebration.
Together, we will Pursue Excellence. Practice Excellence. Produce Excellence.
With appreciation,
Dr. Kenneth Vaughan

Cell and personal electronic devices reminders
Cell Phones and Personal Electronic Devices
All cell phones, smartwatches, headphones, tablets, AirPods, and other personal electronic devices must be placed in the student's locker. Students may not have their cell phone or electronic device on their person during the school day. Cell phones found on students will be collected and left in the front office. Cell phones will be returned to the parent or guardian.
Dress code Reminders
Parents and Guardians,
- Uniforms: Uniforms must be worn each school day, including Fridays. The only exceptions will be designated dress-down days that will be announced by a school administrator. CLICK HERE to review the Hilsman dress code. Note that students can wear a Hilsman spirit shirt with uniform bottoms on Fridays.
MEDIA UPDATE:
Reminder: Students will have a monetary fine added to their account if their device is broken, whether on purpose or accidental. It is so very important that students take care of the resources that they are using at school. Let us know if you have any questions.
DISMISSAL EXPECTATIONS:
Students will be dismissed from their last class in the afternoon when they are called, i.e, Walkers, Car Riders, or their specific bus number. Students are required to go directly to their designated departure location/bus. Students can not leave their classroom early or walk to the front office area unless they are car riders or walkers. Students who walk to the front of the school may not re-enter the bus loading area. Those students will be redirected to the front office to contact their parent or guardian regarding having a family member pick them up from school. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
