Dear Disney Families,

I hope this letter finds you relaxed and rested for the new school year! On behalf of our entire staff I’d like to welcome our new and returning students to Walt Disney Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. Our staff has worked diligently over the summer to plan lessons, prepare classrooms, and ensure we are ready for the start of the new school year. Over the summer, fencing was added between the parking lot and playground to improve safety, new garbage cans were placed outside, tree trimming was completed around the school, and classrooms were deep cleaned and are ready to begin a new school year! We are grateful to everyone who has worked hard to prepare Disney for the return of our students and families. The building looks wonderful we are eager for all of our students to be a STAR this year! We hope the information below may address any questions you may have at this time.

We are also excited to welcome two new members to Team Disney! Ms. Sarah Rattee will be joining us as a first-grade teacher after previously teaching at Salk Elementary. Mrs. Candice Bookmiller will be stepping into our library and media technician role. We are thrilled to welcome them to the Disney family and know they will be wonderful additions to our school community!

Staff has given careful consideration to each child’s placement for the 26-27 school year. By doing so we have created classrooms that are balanced both academically and socially to help ensure each child’s success. Student placement letters will be emailed to families the afternoon of August 26th. If you have changed your email address or moved over the summer, please contact our office ASAP so we can ensure we have the correct contact information on file.

The first day of school will be on Monday, August 31st. This day is a half day and we begin at 8:30 am with a dismissal at 12:30 pm. Breakfast will be served; however lunch will not be served. I’ve attached door assignments below so your child will know where to line up daily. Please know staff will also be out front and visible to direct students as necessary this week. YMCA School-Aged Child Care (SACC) WILL be available on this day for registered students.

To keep families abreast of Disney happenings, Behind the Magic will continue to be published weekly and emailed home on Sundays. A list of important August/September dates may be found below in the meantime.

In closing, please know the staff and I are here and look forward to partnering with you this year to ensure your child’s success! It is an honor and privilege to serve as your principal and I look forward to meeting each of you this year. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at any time!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Porter

Disney Principal

Fraser Wireless Communication Policy Fraser Wireless Communication Policy

User uploaded image

As we prepare for the 2026-2027 school year, we want to share the student cell phone and personal device expectations in Fraser Public Schools.

In accordance with state law and Fraser Public Schools policy, students may not use personal wireless communication devices during the school day while on school grounds. This is consistent with our past practices at the elementary buildings.

What does this mean for elementary students?

Students may bring a device to school, but it must remain turned off, stored away, and out of sight during the school day. This includes cell phones, smartwatches and smart glasses, earbuds and headphones, personal tablets and any device that can text, call, access the internet, take photos or videos, send email, or provide entertainment.

Are there exceptions?

Yes. Exceptions may be made for medically necessary devices, school-issued devices, approved instructional use and IEP or 504 accommodations.

What happens if a student has a device out?

If a student has a device out during instructional time, they will be asked to put it away. If needed, staff may secure the device in a designated, secure location until the end of the school day.

Discipline will not be issued simply because a student has a device out. Consequences may be assigned if a student refuses to follow the expectation or repeatedly fails to comply with the policy. Our goal is to respond in a safe, reasonable, and consistent manner while helping students develop responsible technology habits.

How can families help?

We ask for your partnership as we make this transition. Before the school year begins, please talk with your student about keeping personal devices put away during the school day and the importance of following staff directions.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to provide a focused, safe, and positive learning environment for every Fraser student.

If your child has specific medical needs, please reach out to the main office prior to the start of school. In order to administer medication, consent forms must be completed. Consent forms for prescription medications must include dosage and frequency information signed by a physician. Medication, including inhalers, must be stored in the main office and not in backpacks or pockets. In addition, if your child has a medical plan, it will need to be updated for the 25-26 school year.

Please find medication forms linked below for your convenience.
