MUHS Community Newsletter
December 19, 2025
A Message from the MUHS Leadership Team
Dear MUHS Community,
The power outage made today an adventure. Big thanks to our office staff and facilities crew for trouble shooting in the moment. Thanks to teachers and students for their patience lingering in second block even after the lights came back on. The biggest thanks of the day goes to our kitchen staff for pivoting quickly a couple times to get a hot pizza lunch to us just a bit behind schedule.
We have two more days of school next week, but this is the last newsletter for 2025. Whether you're traveling or staying close to home, we're wishing you all rest and joy over the winter break.
Warmly,
Caitlin Steele, Principal
Ben Weir, Assistant Principal
Sean Farrell, Activities Director
Julie Pettis, Student Response Coordinator
Announcements
From November 10th to the 23rd, the Tigers participated in a food drive competition among the grade levels at MUHS, as well as a second competition with MUMS. By the final day of the competition, MUHS had collected over 350 items. After all donations were counted, the Sophomores placed first, followed by the Juniors, Seniors, and Freshmen.
When the food was weighed at HOPE, MUHS collected over 400 pounds. MUMS won the multi-school competition with 598 pounds of food collected. Mary Hogan did not participate in the competition but they held a separate food drive. Throughout their whole school they donated over 1,000 items!
Families who would still like to contribute are encouraged to donate directly to HOPE in Middlebury. HOPE continues to accept nonperishable food items and essential household goods throughout the holiday season. Appropriate donations include:
- Canned goods
- Boxed meals
- Pasta
- Rice
- Cereal
- Hygiene products
- Other shelf-stable items
Thank you to everybody who donated items and made an impact on our community this holiday season!

Grade 10 Personal Project: More photos!
We thought we’d share a few more photos from the December 10th exhibition as we head into break. Congratulations to all of our Grade 10 students for sharing their learning and accomplishments with us! All students will be finishing up their written reports in January and early February in their advisories. Grade 10 families can look for more information about the report once we return from winter recess.
