NO SCHOOL JANUARY 23rd
January 26th beginning of semester
Dear Greenwood Families,
Welcome back! I hope that you created fond memories and experienced an abundance of joy and peace throughout the winter break. After two weeks off, the transition back to normal may be challenging. Here at Greenwood we are revisiting our school-wide and classroom expectations, to help ease the frustration. We are also offering tons of grace, because we recognize the struggle. I encourage you to do the same.
Growth Mindset
For the month of January we will focus on Growth Mindset. A growth mindset is the belief that abilities and intelligence can develop through effort, good strategies, and help from others. When children adopt this view, they see challenges as chances to learn, persist after setbacks, and enjoy tackling hard tasks. You can support a growth mindset at home by praising effort and strategies (not fixed traits), modeling learning from mistakes, framing feedback as useful information, and encouraging curiosity and persistence. Small shifts in language and expectations help children become more resilient, motivated, and confident learners.
Check out this 5 part series that helps explain growth mindset, as they follow Mojo while he navigates difficulties, by clicking the picture below.
Winter Ready
.
Make sure your little one has all they need for outdoor recess. If you are in need of any items, please don't hesitate to contact the front office. We will be going outside in cold weather.
Thank You!
Thank you to our community, as we had a great donation of winter weather gear. Each child K-3 was able to take items home during the winter break.
Special Shout Out to Greenwood Reformed Church, who also donated snacks and other needed items.
Greenwood Spirit Week
Students and staff participated in our Winter Spirit week. Oh boy was it a wonderful sight.
Fun Times @ Whoville
Our PTO sponsored a night of fun and there was a guest appearance by none other than Mr. Grinch. Families had a ball dancing, making crafts, and watching the original "How the Grinch Stole Christmas".
📅January Events ✍🏻

Attendance Matters
Any changes to your child's regular dismissal plans should be
communicated to the office no later than 3:00pm.
The attendance procedures are designed for all students. Good attendance will help students do well in school, college, and at work. It does not matter if absences are excused or unexcused, they all represent lost time in the classroom and lost opportunity to learn. Too many absent students can impact the whole classroom. Show your child that attendance matters to you and that you will not allow an absence, unless someone is truly sick.
Tardy students must be signed in at the office and receive a tardy pass before entering class.
