Trojan Times Elementary Update

Below is the message I shared with our students on Friday morning:

Overcome Limiting Beliefs- Sometimes when you want to try something new or do something you have never done before, there is a little voice in your head that tells you that you can't. The little voice may tell you that the goal you want to accomplish is too hard or will take too long. Don't listen! You can do anything you set your mind to and work hard for!!!

The 4th Grade Wax Museum was the highlight of the week! It is so impressive to see the amount of time and effort that the fourth grade teachers and students put into preparing for their big day. Students not only learn about their person from history, but they get to practice public speaking skills as they present their historical figure to a live audience. Everyone did a great job with their presentations. It was really fun to see and learn about all the prominent figures from history.

In addition to the wax museum, I also spent time in a first grade room where they were learning about main idea. I couldn't help but be impressed by the way the students picked up the concept and were able to apply their learning to the work that they were doing in the classroom. I love seeing students learn concepts like this at an early age. Understanding main idea is an important skill in comprehending a text and one that they will continue to use a lot after they get to high school! Our students will have this concept mastered before they leave our end of the building!

It's been fun to walk around the school this week. The learning is not slowing down! Classes are engaged in a variety of learning activities. Students are working hard and having fun. It's evident that everyone is getting a little antsy for that winter break, but we are making the most of our final days together. These final four days will be fun :)
