Weekly Eagle Update

September 27th - October 1st

Weekly EagleUpdateSeptember 27th - October 1st

Hello BOES Families!

We had another great week at Boulder Oaks! The teaching and learning that Mrs. Darcey and I saw in classrooms this week was outstanding! Our first graders amazed us by working independently while their teachers worked with small reading groups. We also saw students thinking deeply about math and explaining their thinking to their peers. All of our students were engaged and putting forth much effort into their learning.

As a PBIS school, we are continuing to remind our students to be safe, respectful, and responsible. We even heard one of our parents remind her children of these three rules as she dropped off this week! Thank you for working with us to ensure that our students are good citizens. We also started reciting our No Place For Hate Promise this week after we do the Pledge of Allegiance.

Additionally, we started our Weekly Stars that we have not had since we closed in March of 2020. It is so exciting to bring back another BOES tradition. We will also be starting our positive reinforcement assemblies soon. Please stay tuned for more details.

Lastly, we held our first fire drill this week. I wish you could have seen it! It was truly incredible to see 470 students silently exit their classrooms, line up on the field and go through the process of taking attendance and making sure all students are accounted for. It was quite impressive and reminded us that we have the best students we could ever ask for!

Thank you for your continued support. We cannot wait to see you back on campus next week!

i-Ready Assessment and Parent Night

As we have shared previously, we have recently incorporated a digital program called i-Ready into our district-wide curriculum. This program is being used in grades kindergarten through eighth grade and encompasses both assessment and skills practice in reading and math. Our students recently completed their first diagnostic assessment and the results will be shared with you later this week. We will also be attaching information from i-Ready that will help you understand and interpret the report. Additionally, AUSD will be hosting an i-Ready Parent Evening on Monday, October 4th from 6:00-7:00 PM via Zoom. The first 30 minutes will be a presentation explaining how to interpret the results and the final 30 minutes will be an opportunity for you to ask questions. We hope that you can attend this very important evening.

Picture Make-Up Day

If your student was absent on Picture Day, make-up Picture Day is this Tuesday. We have a list of all of the students absent and will call them out of class to take their pictures.

Parent Volunteer Paperwork

If you are planning on volunteering at BOES starting on 10/4, please make sure that your paperwork is completed in the school office. This includes all of our art docents. Thank you!

Water Bottles

We are completely out of donated water bottles and are now providing the kids with cups to fill up from the water bottle refilling station if they do not have a water bottle. Please remember to send a water bottle with your child DAILY.

Parking Lot Reminders

Please make sure that you are pulling all the way forward when you are dropping off and picking up your child. We are also asking that you wait and merge closer to the dumpsters if you are not able to fully pull into the left-hand lane. Also, please remember to not turn left out of the parking lot. As I am sure you noticed, there is a large sign on Tavern indicating that paving would be taking place and warning us of delays next week. Our fingers are crossed that this will not impact drop-off or dismissal!
