Message from the Principal
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted". -Aesop
Dear Chloe Clark Families,
With Valentine’s Day approaching, it's a great time to discuss kindness, inclusion, and social-emotional learning! At school, we focus on helping students build strong relationships, express their feelings in healthy ways, and show empathy for others. Valentine’s Day—and Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th—are perfect opportunities to reinforce these skills at home.
Here are a few ways you can support your child’s social-emotional growth during this season of kindness and friendship:
💡 Encourage Kindness – Talk with your child about including all classmates when exchanging valentines and being thoughtful in their words and actions. A small act of kindness can make a big impact!
💬 Read Books about Feelings – Books like The Color Monster or Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day can help kids connect emotions to real-life experiences and remind them that it’s okay to have different emotions. Listening to and validating their feelings builds emotional awareness.
🧠 Teach Gratitude – Help your child think about what they appreciate in their friends and family. A simple “thank you” note, a picture, or a heartfelt compliment goes a long way in building strong connections.
👫 Model Inclusion – Encourage your child to be mindful of classmates who may be feeling left out. A kind word or small gesture can make all the difference.
🌎 Celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Day (Feb. 17th)! – Challenge your child and yourself to do something kind for someone without expecting anything in return. Doing a random act with your child—whether it’s helping a friend, writing a kind note, or sharing a smile—helps promote kindness and belonging for all.
Thank you for being our partners in nurturing a caring and inclusive school community.
Wishing you all a Valentine’s Day—and a Kindness Day—filled with connection and joy!
Warmly,
Principal Duncan

Spanish News
Dear Chloe Clark Families,
This week, in our Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade classes, we began practicing the verbs "tengo" (I have) and "necesito" (I need). We also continued exploring vocabulary related to "frutas" and "vegetales".
In class, we've been playing a game where I ask the students to recall the names of body parts, and I try to trick them to see if they can remember where each body part is located!
For Second Grade, we’ve paused small conversations for the moment, but we’ll resume them next week.
For a fun at-home activity, I recommend practicing "me gusta" (I like) and "no me gusta" (I don’t like) with activities or meals your child enjoys or dislikes. This is a great way to reinforce their learning in a fun and engaging way.
Thank you for your support in helping reinforce these concepts at home!
Warm regards,
Ms. Trujillo
