Meet Mrs. Krieg
While there will be days when Ms. Kreag is out this year during her treatments, our Joan Martin Brickies will be supported by Mrs. Krieg, the Dean of Students from Liberty joining Mrs. Caddick! We are so lucky to have her helping out at Joan Martin and wanted to take a moment for you to all meet her.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew I would become an educator. I have a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University Calumet in Spanish Education. I taught for a total of 8 years at the middle school/high school level. During that time, I coached several sports, sponsored many clubs, and remained committed to serving students in whatever ways I could do so.
As a lifelong learner, I decided to go back to school and earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University Northwest. After securing my administrative license and teaching for another year, I joined the staff at Liberty Elementary. This is my fifth year as Dean of Students at Liberty.
I have been married for 14 years. My husband also works for the School City of Hobart. We have an almost three year old daughter and a little golden doodle. We love family time, football season, and being outside.
Our Brickies are my WHY! I take great pride in serving them alongside my amazing colleagues and the parents, guardians, community members, and stakeholders who remain committed to this mission.

End Of Day Transportation
Please make sure you are communicating with the classroom teacher how your student goes home at the end of the day and if there are changes. We need to have a note sent in with the student in the morning if they are not going home their normal way. If this needs to be changed during the school day you need to call the office at 219-947-7869 by 1:30 pm.
PLEASE DO NOT JUST EMAIL OR MESSAGE THE TEACHER, THEY MAY NOT SEE THIS AND WE WANT TO BE SURE YOUR STUDENT GETS HOME SAFELY.
Arrival and Dissmissal Procedures
Car Riders
- Car riders are dropped off/picked up in the back of the school and enter/exit Door 11
- Parents need to stay in the car line and pull around the circle as directed by the superviosors when dropping off and picking up students.
- If you would like to park, you will need to park in Lot C (The Fenced Lot in back) and walk your student to the sidewalk. Parents walk students to the loading doc road and students walk to the Door 11 from there.
- Parents should NOT park in Lot A (front lot) and walk/pick up students at the door. This is where our buses pull through and creates a dangerous situation if parked there.
- Door 11 will remain open till 8:55, after that please walk to the front, Door 1
Walkers
- Students who walk to school should enter Door 7 (the same door as bus riders)
- Door 7 will remain open until 8:45, if it is after this time please come to the front, Door 1

Bus Safety
As we start school, it is important for the safety of our children to be aware of our school buses.
The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.
Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.
Communication
Every Friday you will receive a weekly newsletter. This is the school's way of communicating important events and sharing all of the fun from the week.
We will also utilize ParentSquare and our Joan Martin Facebook page to communicate with you.
