From Log to the Linc
On November 19th, seventy students from Log College, who exceeded expectations for our annual fundraiser, visited Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles were headed to a division rival for an away game in Dallas. This gave the kids an opportunity to visit Lincoln Financial Field, Home of the Super Bowl Champion, Philadelphia Eagles. All students were excited as a sea of green exited the buses when Log arrived for a guided tour.
The tour started with an introduction and an opportunity for students to see what goes on behind the scenes during an Eagles game. First, the students used the route the players take to reach the field in front of 66,000 screaming fans on Sunday. Loud music and inspirational quotes, along with Eagle greats from the past, lined the hallway to the field. The excitement was incredible as many kids who have dreams of one day playing in the National Football League walked the game-day trail, followed by their favorite players. Students also visited the locker room and the press room, where interviews are held after the game.
After visiting the field, students were led on a tour of the press box, where the games are announced and to the coaching boxes, where strategies on Sunday sometimes determine whether the team wins or loses. Once again, the future NFL stars from Log were excited and attentive.
The tour ended with a quick lunch and back to the buses for the return trip to Log.
All students enjoyed a well-deserved, great time and an informative tour.
Math
Students in Academic Math have been diligently working on their individual skills of focus. These skills range from identifying place values all the way up to calculating surface area with unknown variables. We use IXL, iReady, and TransMath to track our progress and make informed decisions about our next steps. Check out some sample problems that utilize the current skills being practiced!
