Some thoughts for the starting school year

π Note From Mrs. McKuen π
Dear Our Lady of the Lake Families,
Last week was jam-packed with learning and excitement! During Fire Prevention Week, students practiced βStop, Drop, and Rollβ and enjoyed visits from the Roscommon County and Denton Township Fire Departments. We are grateful to our local firefighters for helping our students learn how to stay safe!
Remember, this is a short school week. Our teaching staff will attend a conference on Thursday, October 15, and Friday, October 16, so there will be no school on those days.
We also have two fundraisers underway: the Big Cash Raffle and the Calendar Fundraiser. Raffle tickets are available to sign out in the main office. Fundraising calendars are due November 2. Families who turn in a completed, full calendar by that date will receive credit for one fundraising event.
Thank you for supporting our school and helping make these opportunities possible. Have a wonderful week!
Yours in Christ

Our Lady of the Lake Calendar Fundraiser
If you do not wish to participate in the calendar fundraiser, please return your calendar and envelope. Write Not Participating on the envelope.
If a family turns in a full calendar, it will count as one Fundraiser Event toward your service hours.
π§―Fire Prevention Week Visit:π§―
Denton Township and Roscommon County Fire Departments visited Our Lady of the Lake Preschool through third grade. Students learned about fire safety, explored the inside of the Fire Truck, and sprayed a water hose. Thank you, Roscommon County and Denton Township, for taking the time out of your busy schedules to visit our school.
πAdvent Play Coming Soonπ
Dear School Families,
Weβre excited to share that the cast and soloists for our 2026 Advent play, Called to Christmas, have been selected! Songs for students in Pre-K through 8th grade have been sent to their teachers for practice, so donβt be surprised if you hear some heavenly music filling your home!
Mark your calendars! Our performances will take place on Friday, December 18th, at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM.
Many Hands Make Light Work!
There are plenty of ways for families to get involved in making this special event a success. From behind-the-scenes support to other helping hands, we have volunteer opportunities to suit a variety of interests and talents. Thereβs a place for everyone to contribute!
Attached, youβll find the Advent Back-of-House Job Lists and Volunteer Sign-Up Sheet. These behind-the-scenes volunteer roles can also count toward your familyβs one required non-fundraising event. Please note that some positions are already being filled by students serving as their familyβs non-fundraising event; families only need to complete one non-fundraising event.
Thank you for sharing your time and talents to help make Called to Christmas a beautiful and meaningful experience for our students and school community. We appreciate your support in bringing this special Advent proclamation to life!
God Bless
