Now that you have had your parent teacher conference don't forget to check out our newest parent resource, Tools for Student Success!

Tools for Success

REMINDERS REMINDERS

Please keep all toys at home. This includes Labubus (small stuffed toys) to school. We don't bring toys to school unless the teacher designates a special day. We have children misplacing them and they are a distraction in the classroom learning environment.

Send your child with a snack to school daily. Teachers also welcome NUT Free snack donations in their classroom. The office is not able to supply everyone with a snack.

Please do not use Parent Square to change your child's transportation. You should always have a set dismissal plan. Send a note with your child to school if their dismissal plan is to change. We do not want to leave room for error.

Don't forget to wear your purple and gold to celebrate Brickie Fridays!

GRATITUDE CHALLENGE GRATITUDE CHALLENGE

November is known as the month for being grateful. This month we are going to challenge our students and staff to pause throughout the month and remember what they are grateful for. We can focus on filling up our own jars of gratitude. Feel free to use this jar or an actual physical jar with your family. Our students will be able to ask for a gratitude note slip and put it on our Gratitude Jar poster we have up in the hall. I also included our November Wellness Calendar for you to use. Take time to pause and be grateful!

  • Students need to have their Chromebooks and headphones at school daily.
  • Dress your Brickies for outside recess!
  • Please send your child with a water bottle and a healthy snack daily!
  • Chromebook insurance is a separate fee again this year for $25. You will sign a paper at Back to School Night asking for insurance, the fee will then be assigned to you in Skyward. The insurance is not effective until purchased. You can pay through Skyward or send cash or check to Liberty. You can opt out, but we strongly encourage all parents to purchase insurance.
  • How does your child become a Mathlete? Students master their facts in XtraMath based on their grade level expectation and earn a Liberty Mathlete shirt.

    1st and 2nd Grade-Addition and Subtraction

    3rd Grade-Addition, Subtraction, and Multiplication

4th and 5th Grade-Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division

  • It very important to follow our car rider procedures to ensure everyone is safe.
  • Students in grades 3-5 can ride bikes to school. Younger students can ride bikes with an adult only. Scooters, skateboards and hoverboards are not permitted.
  • Students should have a consistent dismissal plan each night to avoid confusion. In the event there is a change in transportation send a note to school with your child that morning.
  • Students are not permitted to ride other students buses.
  • Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays car rider drop off is at 8:30 at door 8. Supervision and doors open at door 8 at 8:30.
  • Late Start Wednesdays students can be dropped off at 8:50.
  • If your student has a health condition that requires medication and a care plan, please update paperwork and medication before the first day of school. You can drop it off to the school nurse at Back-to-School Night.
  • Fridays are Brickie Fridays! Encourage your child to wear purple and gold.

SCHOOL BUS SAFETY SCHOOL BUS SAFETY

As we start school it is important for the safety of our children to be aware of our school buses.

The stop arm and blinking lights mean “STOP”. To disregard the stop arm is a misdemeanor and mandatory court appearance. The Hobart Police Department has shared that law allows the police to use the bus driver’s observations to issue a citation to the registered owner of the vehicle.

Our ultimate goal is a safe commute for children to and from school.

Check out the SEL page for great tips and advice for Social Emotional Learning for students, parents, and families! Lots of great information with what we do in school with students and what you can do at home.

It’s not a myth that electronics can affect sleep. Studies have shown that blue light screens such as TVs, tablets, computers, and cell phones emit suppress melatonin resulting in not feeling sleepy at bedtime and disrupting quality sleep. The best rule of thumb is to eliminate screen time an hour before kids head to bed. Think about what your child needs and when you can fit screen time in appropriately so that it does not affect their sleep habits. You don’t want your child to feel deprived of electronics, or like they are being punished, so instead, we recommend being intentional with creating a new schedule that allows for screen time prior to the last hour of the day. Turn off the electronics an hour before bed. This works for all ages from young to adults.

School Clubs Require a Physical Online School Clubs Require a Physical Online

If your child is interested in doing an after school club that involves physical activity we need to have a physical on file. This is due to not having a nurse at the building after school hours. You can print the Physical Form from the link below or use any Physical Form from your doctor's office. Please see the flyer below for information. We do have several fun after school clubs all year long, some starting very soon!
