July 2025 - Summer holidays
We've made it to the end of another lovely year!
Dear Parents and Carers,
It's that lovely time of the year when we look back at a rewarding and fruitful school year and look forward to a good break over the summer holiday from school routines.
I hope that you are ready for the summer holiday, just a few days to go.
Y6 Leavers' and End of Year Mass
We say goodbye to our Year 6 on Friday morning, starting with a Mass at St Cecilia's Church to be celebrated by Father Benedict. Years 4-6 will attend Mass, parents are most welcome, please sit towards to back of the Church and move forwards when we are all in!
Clapping out ceremony
We end the term with a Clapping Out Ceremony where we clap out Year 6 and Mr Caulfield and wish them well in their new adventures, at High School for the children and in Scotland for Mr Caulfield. You can join us for this at 1130 on Friday, just come through the blue gate near the Nursery and you will find us on the field and on the green playground. At the end of the clapping out the children are dismissed fairly quickly. We have an ice cream van on site for Y6 children only.
Academy delay
We have been informed today of a possible long delay to our academisation, whilst issues over land are decided by the lawyers. We will get there eventually! You will notice on the DFE website that we are "closing," - please do not worry, this is part of the academy change process as we gain our new identity as an academy school and change our status. We continue to work with the Trust in the meantime.
Sports Premium funding continues
We received good news from Government this week, Sports Premium funding is continuing next year, our after school provision and coaching can continue!
Farewells
We say farewell to our Year 6 children and families who leave us on Friday along with all the other children throughout the school who are moving house, for some of you quite a new adventure in far off lands. Some of our families have been here a very long time with several children of different ages, thanks for having faith in us and for being with us for so long!
We wish you all well and thank you for your time with us, we will have lovely memories of working with your children and with you as a family.
Best wishes to you all for a lovely summer holiday with your families, we look forward to welcoming the children back in September. Term dates and events for the next year are linked below and have been updated on our website.

SATs results
Congratulations to Year 6 on their marvellous SATs results, a great achievement after 7 years in primary school. They did exceptionally well in comparison to the national results, you can find full information on our national assessments webpage.
Our successful results show that our curriculum and standard of teaching are working well and that our children respond beautifully to their learning. Results will go up and down as the needs of year groups change, what is clear is that we have the capacity and capability to do very well.
PTA - Uniform sale and ice lolly treat
First Holy Communion Celebration
We had our celebration for First Holy Communion last week. Father Benedict celebrated a lovely Mass for us, we had a great breakfast afterwards and a chance to catch up with the children on news of all their First Holy Communion celebrations in the different parishes, at home and abroad. Thanks to the PTA for their support with the breakfast and refreshments for parents, we all had a really special morning.
Ye-Ha!
Congratulations to Y6 on a whimsical performance of Ye-Ha, a comedy set in a Wild West town. Joyous songs and beautiful performances made for a very engaging final primary school play.
Donating shoes
We will happily take donations for good quality shoes and trainers for children in the Gambia Please make sure that they are in good useable and clean condition. It helps us if you tie them together somehow so that we do not lose them as a pair. Children may wear trainers for school next week if they have donated their shoes.
Please donate them in the shopping trolley near the school gates. Sorry, I forgot to put the trollies out this morning!
We are pleased to support this local project run by Mrs Carroll, a past parent at the school.
Y6 residential
Year 6 are back from a wonderful week in Dorset, they were certainly very lucky with the sunny weather. They have been very busy with activities from breakfast to bedtime. A big thank you to all the staff who accompanied the group and to Y6 parents for their support for the residential, what a lovely experience they have to remember.
Welcome Miss Tunney
We welcome Miss Tunney to the Year 2 teaching team in September, she was with her new class the other day for the Meet the Teacher session, it will be lovely to have her as part of the team for the new school year.
