September Weekly update ~ September 12, 2025
A note from Mr. Lee
Thank You for a Great Open House!
We want to extend a big thank you to all of our families who joined us for Open House this week. By being here, you’ve taken the first important step in your student’s education for this school year, and we are grateful for your support.
We hope you enjoyed hearing messages from myself, Dr. Bernia, and Kenny Spear from Positive You. Attached below you’ll find a few reminders from Kenny’s presentation on Digital Detox, as well as a QR code to provide your feedback on the session.
One of the key themes from Kenny’s talk was the importance of setting boundaries around technology use. At school, we continue to see that limiting cell phone use during the day with our no cell phone standard creates fewer distractions and less drama, allowing students to focus more on learning and building positive relationships.
We know that parenting in today’s world isn’t easy—we’re all navigating the challenges of raising children in the digital age together. This is not meant as a “how-to” guide for parenting, but rather a reminder that small changes can make a big difference for kids both at home and at school.
Here are a few simple tips that can help:
Set tech-free times at home (like during meals or the hour before bedtime).
Encourage face-to-face conversations instead of texting when possible.
Model healthy habits by limiting your own screen use during family time.
Check in regularly with your child about their online experiences—both the positives and the challenges.
Together, by supporting one another, we can help our students develop healthier habits, reduce unnecessary stress, and focus on what really matters this school year.
Together,
Mr. Lee
Special Remarks from Mr. Syswerda
