FALL UNIVERSAL SCREENER BEGINS TODAY! FALL UNIVERSAL SCREENER BEGINS TODAY!

zoom_out_map

Our Fall Universal Screening Window begins today, August 12th and will remain open through August 30th for students in Kindergarten through 6th Grade.

  • iReady Reading Diagnostic
  • iReady Math Diagnostic
  • Written Expression (August 19th-30th) (Guidance is posted in On Target for Success SharePoint)
  • Screening for Characteristics of Dyslexia if flagged at risk
    • 25th percentile and below***
    • Any student where parent or teacher has concerns with Reading deficits

All data K-6th collected between August 12-30 will be reported to TDOE by Curriculum Associates.

***Due to two different percentiles showing in TDOE communications, I contacted them for clarity last week. Please use the 25th percentile and below for additional screening as this is what is outlined in the law. The 15th percentile and below is what the State Board has identified for significant reading deficits.

Should 7th-12th take the iReady Diagnostic? Should 7th-12th take the iReady Diagnostic?

It is strongly encouraged that students complete the iReady Diagnostic even if they are not in Kindergarten through 6th grade so that MSCS will have baseline data, but more importantly so that the students will have a personalized instruction my path in iReady which can be used to support students with additional practice opportunities.

Monitoring Along the Way

Now more than ever, schools will need to check progress throughout the screening window, but I can commit to providing a comprehensive report to principals and leads as follows. Use trackers to monitor class completion and check in during grade level or team meetings. Don't forget to celebrate success!

Thank You for Teaming!

Thank you to all of those who have stepped up to offer supports and resources for others and also for me. Loren Craddock has provided some sample resources she is using at White Station Elementary that will definitely help new leads track completion of the Fall Universal Screener. VeAndrea Washington, former RTI Advisor and new Assistant Principal at Hickory Ridge Middle, shared some resources with middle schools. Jessica Coleman, former RTI Advisor and new Dean of Students, provided updated templates for us. Michelle Adkins, Tracey Hunter, and Tracy Benson were great at speaking up during the TNPulse Training last week to clarify challenges, but also to collaborate moving forward with others. Keep up this amazing teamwork and if you have something you would like to share with others, please send it my way!

Platform Access Requests

  • Access requests are in progress. If a teacher is showing as a placeholder in PowerSchool or if it is a substitute, access cannot be granted until the person is teacher of record in PowerSchool.
  • School Change requests are complete to date.
  • For students newly registered, please allow 48 hours from the time they appear in PowerSchool before submitting a request for iReady access as they two systems have to sync rosters. If that time has passed and the student cannot access iReady, please email RTI2@scsk12.org with the student's name, PSID, and teacher's name.

Thank you to those who have taken time to complete this survey. The information does help me to help you because I can better understand your needs. This will be the last week that I post in the newsletter and it will likely take you about 3-7 minutes of time to complete. Moving forward the Needs Assessment Survey will only be shared with newly identified leads.
