Principal Message
Dear Fisler Families,
What a wonderful week of connection and community at Fisler!
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for Parent-Teacher Conferences last week. We are so grateful for the time you took to connect with our teachers, celebrate your child’s growth, and partner with us as we continue supporting each student’s success.
A big thank you to our PTSA and parent volunteers for treating our teachers and staff to lunch throughout conference week! We were so spoiled and truly appreciated the opportunity to sit together, enjoy a delicious meal, and connect during such a busy week. What a wonderful treat for our staff!
Also, I want to thank FAST for hosting our Family Movie Night! I loved hearing what a joyful evening it was. This was such a wonderful opportunity for our families to relax, connect, and enjoy time together. These are the moments that help build such a special sense of community at Fisler.
This week we are excited to kick off our K-pop auditions this week! We are looking forward to seeing our talented middle school students share their skills and creativity this Wednesday after school. It is always so much fun to see our students shine and celebrate the many talents they bring to Fisler.
Another event we are especially looking forward to is the Fisler Gala on October 16! This will be another fun opportunity to come together as a community while raising money to support our school and students. My husband and I have already secured our tickets, and we hope many of our Fisler parents will join us!
One of the highlights of the evening will be the opportunity to bid on special experiences and time with our amazing teachers and staff. I am especially excited to see who wins Principal for the Day! I may need to start preparing my office for my replacement! Secure your ticket TODAY!
We hope you will save the date, gather some Fisler friends, and join us for a wonderful evening of fun, connection, and support for our school.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Warmly,
Caroline Llewellyn, Ed.D.

🚀 Race to Space Reading Challenge!
Get ready to blast off with FSD’s Race to Space Reading Challenge! From September 25–October 16, students in grades 3–8 are encouraged to read, log their minutes, and help FSD reach our districtwide goal of 1 million minutes of reading! Students should aim for 2 hours of reading each week, and they can read any books that interest them. Every minute counts, so encourage your child to grab a great book and help us race to space! 🚀📚
Character Trait of the Month: R-E-S-P-E-C-T
In October, our school will focus on the important character trait of Respect. We believe that teaching children to value others, their ideas, and their surroundings is essential to their personal growth and success.
You can help reinforce respect at home by:
Modeling respectful behavior: Let your child see you being respectful to others, even in challenging situations.
Encouraging empathy: Help your child understand the importance of listening to others’ opinions and valuing differences.
Setting expectations: Talk with your child about how respect shows up in actions, like speaking politely, following rules, and treating others kindly.
Ask a Daily Question: At dinner or in the car, ask: “How did you show respect today?” or “Did someone show you respect today?”
Thank you for partnering with us to help our students grow into kind, thoughtful, and respectful individuals.
English Language Advisory Committee
Please join us this year at our ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) meetings to discover how we can support your child’s English language development and share information about the programs and resources available at Fisler. Our first meeting is October 14th!
Internet/ Digital Safety at Home: A Reminder for Families
We encourage all families to regularly monitor their children’s online activity, including phones, laptops, gaming systems, and other devices. Please take time to talk with your children about appropriate online behavior, establish clear boundaries, and utilize parental controls to help keep them safe.
Fullerton School District offers helpful resources to support families with internet safety, parental controls, and responsible technology use at home.

Good Evening Fisler families —
Thank you — Movie Night was a huge success! It was wonderful to see so much of our community out on the lake together. Thank you to everyone who came, ate, played, and stayed for the show. Big thanks to Kitch Cafe, Mathnasium, Gracie Barra Jiu-Jitsu, and Tritone Music Academy for coming out. And thank you to all of our corporate sponsors. We hope every kid that went home with a NeeDoh Nice-Sicle is having a blast with them. Nights like this are exactly what Fisler is about.
Science Olympiad. We just announced this year's team — 35 students, two full teams plus alternates. That's a big step up, and a sign of how seriously we're investing in this program for the long haul. Congratulations to every student who made it.
Minecraft. The fall class signup link is coming in the October 11 newsletter. Watch this space. F²AST has proudly sponsored Minecraft for years, but this program is only possible due to the hard work and dedication of our F2AST teacher members. Thank you Mrs. Bass for running this going season after season.
There's more on the horizon. F²AST is working hard to develop new programs and bring fresh ideas to Fisler. We look forward to building them in collaboration with our students, parents, and staff. Have a great idea? Email us - let's talk. Questions, comments, criticisms, compliments, and complaints:

Counseling Corner
Dear Fisler Families,
From our youngest learners to our middle school students, technology is increasingly part of our children’s lives. As a TK–8 school, we want to partner with families in helping students develop healthy digital habits early and make safe, responsible choices as they grow.
An important reminder: many popular social media platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and Facebook, require users to be at least 13 years old to create their own accounts. For younger children, now is a great time to establish healthy habits around devices, online games, messaging, and screen time before social media becomes part of their world.
How Families Can Help
Start healthy habits early. Create device-free times during meals, homework, family time, and before bed. Consider charging devices overnight in a common area.
Know your child’s digital world. Stay familiar with the apps, games, group chats, privacy settings, and people your child interacts with online.
Keep talking as they grow. Conversations will look different in TK than they do in 8th grade, but children of every age benefit from knowing they can come to a trusted adult when something online makes them uncomfortable.
If students receive an inappropriate image, threat, or concerning message, remind them not to forward or share it and to tell a trusted adult right away. Fullerton School District offers helpful resources to support families with internet safety, parental controls, and responsible technology use at home.
