During our April PTO meeting, we had the opportunity to share more information about the upcoming promotion ceremony. Some of the information shared was regarding the location of the ceremony, promotion dress code for students, and much more!

Somerton School District held its first ever Teacher of the Year Banquet! We want to take a moment to recognize all of the incredible teachers that were honored during this event and highlight our very own Miss Clark, SMS Teacher of the Year, for all of her commitment, passion, and hard work!🫶🏽💚

Miss Clark, we are ALL very lucky to have you at SMS and we are ALL very proud of you!

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to BTS, DSS, ELC, OGS, SVS, and TDS for their incredible partnership in making our 6th Grade Orientation on May 1st such a success! Your support and collaboration ensured that our incoming students felt welcome, prepared, and excited for the transition to SMS. Thank you for helping to make this event a meaningful and memorable experience for our future Cobras!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Campesinos Sin Fronteras 2Thrive Top Program for the incredible support and care you have shown our Cobras this school year. Your presence, guidance, and dedication have meant so much to our students, and it is clear that your impact goes far beyond the classroom.

To show our appreciation, we invited our amazing facilitators to La Michoacana this past Monday, May 5th, for some well-earned sweet treats after their final session. It was a small gesture to say a big thank you for pouring into our youth and believing in their potential. ¡Gracias!

At SMS, we believe in recognizing not just achievement, but growth, and one student who exemplifies this is Caleb Becerra. Over the course of this school year, Caleb has shown tremendous academic progress through hard work, resilience, and a commitment to learning and sports.

Teachers have noted his increased engagement, improved performance, and a growing confidence in tackling challenges. This kind of growth is a powerful reminder that success is built through effort and perseverance.

On May 7th, 2025, we had the incredible honor of hosting our first-ever Top 20 Banquet, recognizing the remarkable 8th-grade students who achieved the Top 20 academic scores in their class. It was a beautiful evening filled with pride, celebration, and heartfelt support from families who came together to honor their students’ hard work and dedication.

In addition to celebrating our top scholars, we proudly recognized our Male and Female Athletes of the Year and our Outstanding Cocopah 8th Grade Student – inspiring leaders who embody the spirit of excellence.🌟 Students also received their honor cords and medals, marking this special milestone in their educational journey.

A huge thank you to Every Last Detail Event Planning for the stunning decorations and delicious food that made the night truly unforgettable, and to the SMS Admin Team for all the behind-the-scenes work that made this event possible.💚
