Dear Onahan Community,
Your children are so thoughtful! The other day, as I was walking down the hallway, I noticed a beautiful bouquet of paper flowers decorating the wall. Curious, I touched the florist-style wrapping around the stems and looked closer. Each flower had a special note written to me! They were from Room 214 (3rd grade).
At that moment, Mrs. Sutton walked by and said, “You should take a look around the hallways.” Sure enough, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors have been transformed into a “garden walk” of heartfelt notes. I can’t remember too many gestures that have touched my heart more. It’s taken me a couple of days to read them all, and every message has brought a smile (and sometimes a tear) to my eye.
Speaking of spreading kindness, one of our goals this year is to strengthen our sense of community and show more school spirit. Tomorrow, students are encouraged to wear their Onahan colors and show their pride! We’ll also be kicking off our first school-wide buddy event, pairing students across grades for some fun and connection.
We recently wrapped up our September SEL theme, Stepping into Belonging, with special recognition for students who embodied that spirit. For October, we’re focusing on Stepping into Kindness. You can follow along with our SEL calendar below and join us in encouraging these positive habits at home, too.
September’s SEL theme was “belonging”. These students showed they are kind to everyone, welcoming and includes others, and they are a caring and supportive friend.

NOW IS THE TIME - We Need to Pay for Curriculum
If you haven’t already, please take a moment to pay your school fees. The fees help support our new HMH Into Reading and Into Literature curriculum—resources not fully covered by our budget. Thanks to the PTO and Friends of Onahan, we’ve received generous support, but family contributions are still needed to ensure all students have what they need. If your child qualifies for free lunch, you can request a waiver from the main office. Thank you for helping make this possible!
To pay student fees go to Epay (or go to onahanschool.org main page, very top corner) and use the chart below. You can select the option of One Time Payment rather than creating an account or logging in. You will need one student ID, and if you are a current student, that can be found on Aspen’s parent portal, a progress report or report card. If you are not able to pay the fees, please contact the main office at (773) 534-1180.
