Cardinal Call
Greetings, Cardinals!
The end of quarter one has arrived! Tuesday, November 4 marks the end of the first quarter. As we turn the page to quarter two, please keep in mind that the second quarter goes by fast. With Thanksgiving break as well as a two week winter break, the end of semester one will be here before we know it. Believe it or not, administration is already starting to build out our scheduling process for the 26/27 school year!
Sincerely,
Jim Ertel
Principal
Announcements
Bell to Bell No Cell Monthly Update
Looking at the data from the month of October, we are averaging daily phone collection at 11 phones per day. This is an uptick in our daily average from September. Digging deeper, we did see an increase in phones being turned in during Homecoming week that was outside our general trend. We will continue to monitor these numbers and adjust plans as needed.
Additionally, Wisconsin has become the 36th state to adopt a state law that requires school districts to restrict personal electronic device access during instructional time. A link to the news story can be found here.
Bell to Bell No Cell Reminder
As a reminder, using personal electronic devices when not directed by a teacher would qualify for a purple pass. We reinforced these expectations with students on Monday 10/27, and the associated teach-to slides can be viewed here. We are also working with staff to make sure these expectations are being set universally.
Indigenous Peoples’ Month
November is Indigenous Peoples’ Month. We recognize that our District exists on the ancestral homeland of the Ho-Chunk Nation, known as the People of the Sacred Voice, who resided on these lands for over three ice ages before being forcibly removed throughout the 1830s. This month, we honor the historical and cultural contributions made by Indigenous people, and we recognize and celebrate their resilience, their strength, and their continuing significance.
