Thank You

ZCMS Families,

Thank you for helping us launch our school year successfully. Monday marked the start of quarter 2 of the year. Thanks to the hard work of our staff, students, and your continued partnership, our students have brought pride to our school. Here are some highlights from quarter 1:

32% - Students on honor roll or high honor roll (We hope to get this up next quarter)

94% - Average Daily Attendance

92% - Students had 7 or less tardies during the school day Q1.

-58% - decrease in major disciplinary incidents (Involving administration compared to Q1 25-26)

Quarter 2 Reset

This week administration and teachers reviewed our schoolwide expectations with students to kick off quarter 2. I am proud of the work our teachers and staff have done with students to begin the year. We also have many student leaders who have stepped up to ensure their peers are successful through our student council and youth leadership clubs. I wanted to share with you some of the core expectations and topics that were covered so you can also remind your student(s) how they can continue to be successful here at Central. We also track student tardies and have reset them this week for quarter 2 now that students are acclimated to the building.

Core Expectations
ENGAGE. MANAGE YOURSELF. STRENGTHEN THE COMMUNITY.

Engage

  • Come to school every day and arrive on time.

  • Get to class on time and be prepared to learn.

  • Participate, complete your work, and use instructional time appropriately.

  • Set goals and build habits that support your success.

Manage Yourself

  • Recognize your emotions before reacting.

  • Use strategies to regulate frustration and stress.

  • Accept redirection and make adjustments when needed.

  • Think about your values and the consequences of your choices.

  • Ask for help before a problem becomes larger.

Strengthen the Community

  • Communicate respectfully with peers and adults.

  • Consider other perspectives before responding.

  • Handle disagreements without escalating them.

  • Make choices that support a safe and productive school environment.

  • Take responsibility for how your actions affect others.

We look forward to seeing you at conferences this week!

Warm regards,

Christopher Johnson
