Message from the Principal - May 23, 2024
Hello Pyle Families,
Students had a great time learning and participating in our college and career week. Ask your student if they have a new interest in a special career for their future or a college they want to attend.
This week students were abe to hear the rapping talents of Dr. Blake Brandis and his message about Growth Mindset, enjoy Drum & Perk and their message of teamwork and share with eachother ways they can positively impact the world around them. If you are interested in purchasing any books from our presenter please see the information in the newsletter for the Motivational Millenial.
Congratulations to our 5 winners of the job application contest, Jade Sandoval, Tamara Herrera-Flores, Charles Meas, Mario Barrera-Hernandez, and Aria Wilson who will be winning a free dress day pass to enjoy.
Friday, May 24, and Monday 27, school will be closed for the Memorial Day holiday. Tuesday May 28 students who have been on time each day from April 15 to May 15 will be invited to the "No Tardy Party."
Students who wear their Ernie Pyle Spirit wear socks on Tuesday, May 28, will be able to enjoy our last pre scheduled Spirit Sock Free Dress Day. Thank you for supporting our fundraiser.
Tuesday evening, we will be having a virtual escape room family event at 5:30pm. Join us for a night of competing against each other by solving questions to unlock clues and codes. It is time for our SPRING Parent Title 1 survey. Please take a minute to give us your feedback on our survey. Your valuable input will guide our planning for next year.
We are asking all parents of English Learners to complete our DELAC Needs Assessment survey to help us plan for next year.
If you have not yet completed the intent to return Google Form for the 2024-2025 school year please complete this to let us know if your student will be returning to Ernie Pyle in the fall. This helps us plan for classes so that we can have a great start to the year. https://tinyurl.com/Intent2Return24-25 You will not need to register your student again, they will automatically be enrolled in the next grade. If you live in another school zone and were sent to Ernie Pyle because your home school was full you will return to that school in the fall.

Ernie Pyle Yearbook on SALE NOW
Order your yearbook while supplies last. Yearbooks will be available through the PTA until supply is sold out. The PTA will be at the front gate to sell yearbooks Wednesday's 7:45-8:30am and 1:26-2pm, Cash only. Please bring the exact amount as they may not be able to make change for you.

School Store
Ernie Pyle has partnered with "School Store." We have already had many families share this information with families and friends and students have earned reading buddy prizes to encourage their love of reading. Thank you to those of you who have already used the link provided to conduct your online shopping and to those of you who have donated gift cards to our classrooms. Students can continue turning in envelopes with the code earned from sharing 10 emails to earn their reading buddy all year long. Additional prizes can be earned by using our link to begin your everyday online shopping journey. We appreciate your support!

Safety First - Ernie Pyle verkada SIGN IN SYSTEM
All BUSD schools use the Verkada sign-in system. All visitors on campus will be asked to scan their ID to sign into our visitor management system and receive a sticker complete with the visitor's name and picture to let everyone on campus know that the person has signed in and is clear to be on campus. If you need to come onto campus for any reason please be sure to have your ID with you so that you can sign into our system.
FREE on the Ernie Pyle Campus - YMCA Before School Care
The YMCA has partnered with Ernie Pyle to provide free child care before school. This program through BUSD is offered at no cost to families, at all elementary sites. This program has a capacity of 30 students per school through YMCA. Students will be provided breakfast, engage in fun games and activities, and be able to connect with friends before school. If you would like to enroll in our before-school program, please CLICK HERE and be sure to complete one Google form for each student. After you have completed the registration link, you will be contacted by the YMCA to complete any additional needed enrollment forms. At this time, we have not exceeded program capacity and still have spaces available.
