A Message from Ms. Chambers
What a wonderful first full week of school! Our Gecko community is off to a fantastic start.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who joined us for Back to School Night. It was wonderful to see so many of you on campus, connecting with teachers, meeting new faces, and learning more about the exciting year ahead.
Our teachers did a remarkable job sharing their classroom expectations, curriculum, and the many ways they will support student learning and growth throughout the year. Their dedication, preparation, and passion were evident in every classroom, and we are incredibly proud of the work they do each day to create welcoming, engaging learning environments for our students.
Back to School Night was also a wonderful reminder of the importance of the partnership between home and school. When teachers, staff, and families work together, we create a strong foundation for students to thrive. Your involvement and support make such a meaningful difference in your child's educational experience.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Friday Flag of the year! These moments remind us of what makes our school so special, the incredible community we share. We look forward to seeing you all next Friday again at Friday Flag.
With gratitude,
Cynthia Chambers
Principal

The 2026-27 Volunteer Clearance Process is NOW open!
In order to keep your Level II volunteer clearance from previous school years, please ensure you submit a Level I clearance this school year 2026-27.
Level II clearance will only carry forward if you receive Level I clearance each year!
For questions or additional information, please contact the Creekside Office directly.
A reminder to please get in touch with Cristina Holmes (cholmes@powayusd.com), Creekside’s Health Office Technician, if your student(s) has/have a medical condition including allergies (life threatening OR non-life threatening) of any sort – especially if you haven’t already done so! This also includes any injuries that your student(s) may pick up throughout the year.
This just ensures the team at Creekside can support your student(s) in the best way possible.
School Site Council
Taking an active role in your child’s education is one of the most important means of helping your child in school. One of the ways in which you can become actively involved at Creekside Elementary School is to become a member of our School Site Council (SSC).
The SSC at Creekside is a ten-member council responsible for overseeing Creekside’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) and Comprehensive Site Safety Plan. As a site council member, you can expect to be involved in the development of the school’s improvement plan, oversight of the plan’s implementation, and assessment of its impact on students.
The SSC is comprised of five staff members and five community members, elected by peers, to serve a two-year term. Presently there are TWO voting positions open for parents on the SSC. Members are expected to attend all meetings. Our first zoom meeting for this school year will be scheduled in September/October.
If you would like to become a member of the SSC, please email Dr. A. Caroline Wright, Assistant Principal, at adwright@powayusd.com by Friday, August 28, 2026, indicating your interest and including a sentence or two about why you wish to serve on the council.
Thank you for your involvement in our school!
Safety Patrol
As a reminder, the School Safety Patrol will be operating before and after school, Monday through Friday, under the supervision of CSES Teacher, Mrs. Heather Hofland, and SDPD Officer, Ralph Perez.
Safety Patrol squads will assist with pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Springhurst Drive and Bridgewood Way. This intersection currently has a three-way stop and two crosswalks. We appreciate, in advance, your cooperation, patience, and support as these students are on duty.
Each School Safety Patrol squad is comprised of 4-7 members. The members have specific responsibilities in ensuring families cross safely before and after school. Crossing will be permitted when a group gathers and is ready to cross. The captain will blow their whistle once, signaling the members to drop signs and traffic to stop in all directions. The captain will blow their whistle twice, signaling the opportunity for families to safely cross the intersection on marked crosswalks. The captain will then blow the whistle three times, signaling signs up and traffic to resume. Students will be supervised by school staff, SDPD, and/or trained parent volunteers.
If you would like to volunteer to support the Safety Patrol, please contact Heather Hofland at Hhofland@powayusd.com.
Please use safe driving habits along Springhurst Drive and Bridgewood Way. Please refrain from making u-turns in the middle of the road. The few extra minutes it may take to drive around could be the few extra minutes needed to prevent an accident or injury to a walking or riding pedestrian.
We ask that pedestrians and drivers be kind to our squads and understanding as they become proficient in managing their responsibilities.
Thank you!
