Reward School
Record-breaking number of Rutherford schools named ‘Reward Schools’
28 schools earn state designation for high performance and improvement
November 21, 2025
By JAMES EVANS
Rutherford County Schools
In yet another indicator that Rutherford County Schools is among the elite performers in Tennessee, a record number of district schools have earned the distinction of “Reward School,” the Tennessee Department of Education announced today.
Schools are recognized as a Reward school when they demonstrate high levels of performance and/or improvement in performance by meeting their annual measurable objectives across performance indicators and student groups, and the Reward school distinction places significant emphasis on improvement from the prior school year, according to TDOE.
Last school year, 20 Rutherford schools earned the designation, and the previous record is 21 schools.
“I am ecstatic to see our schools, our administrators, our teachers, our staff, our students, and our parents recognized for their determination, dedication, and pursuit of high performance ,” Director of Schools Dr. Jimmy Sullivan said. “The key to our schools’ success is not a secret. We invest our efforts into meeting our students where they are and ensuring they grow academically each year. Our strategy is working, as evidenced by these designations today.”
The designations were approved today by the State Board of Education and then announced publicly by the Tennessee Department of Education.
Earlier this year, Rutherford County Schools was named a Level 5 school district for student growth, for the sixth consecutive year. In addition, 32 of the district’s schools also earned a Level 5, which is the highest designation offered by the state.

Dear Elementary Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the holiday break, I want to share a few important reminders and updates.

Please take a moment to check your child’s lunch balance at mypaymentsplus.com. We have noticed that many students have accumulated significant charges. If your child’s balance is low or in arrears, please take care of this as soon as possible.

Registration Link for the K–2 Christmas Program
If the app is not used, each adult will need to present a physical ID at arrival. This option takes longer, so we highly recommend pre-registration for a faster, smoother entry.
Please note: Sign-in will begin at 8:30 AM, and early arrival is advised.
Lost and Found
Our Lost and Found is located at the bottom of the stairs leading to the large cafeteria. This year, the number of jackets, lunchboxes, and water bottles has grown significantly. So, we’ve even expanded to an additional table on the other side of the stairs, too. If your child is missing anything, please check this area before the end of next week. **I plan to move all Lost and Found items to the new gym next Thursday afternoon.** This means families attending the 3–5 performance Thursday evening or the K–2 performance on Friday morning will have a convenient opportunity to look through the items before leaving. Any unclaimed items will be donated over Winter Break, so please take a moment to stop by.
Thank you for your attention to these matters. We look forward to seeing you at our performances and wish you and your family a joyful and restful holiday season!

RAPTOR SAFE APP
Greetings Eagleville Families,
We want to remind everyone that our district is adopting the Raptor Safe mobile app as part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing school safety and streamlining visitor management in our schools. This app builds on our existing visitor procedures, offering a more convenient and secure check-in process for everyone.
What is the Raptor Safe App?
The Raptor Safe app offers a convenient and secure way for visitors to manage and verify their identity before arriving at a school. With the Raptor Passport feature, visitors can pre-verify their identity, allowing for a seamless sign-in process when they arrive on campus.
How Does It Work?
When visiting a school, visitors can use their secure QR code generated by the app to expedite the check-in process. QR codes automatically regenerate every 5 minutes to ensure security and prevent misuse.
Getting Started
The Raptor Safe app is available to all visitors across the district. To download the app, please visit https://raptortech.com/raptorsafe-app/. Or it should be availabe in the app store.
For questions or assistance, please contact your school office. Thank you for helping us keep our schools safe.
Thank you,
Tim Pedigo

POSITIVE STUDENT REFERRAL
POSITIVE STAFF REFERRAL
Rutherford County Schools will begin using weapon scanners to screen all students and guests coming onto school campuses.
These free-standing machines are designed to detect the presence of weapons while allowing everyday items such as cell phones, coins, and car keys to pass through without triggering an alert.
Here’s what students can expect each morning upon arrival at school:
Each student will walk through the scanner individually, along with their belongings.
Laptops and three-ring binders will be handed to a staff member before passing through.
If the scanner is triggered, the student will be given further instructions by staff.
This may include emptying their pockets, being screened with a handheld wand, and/or having their backpack searched as necessary.
Students arriving later in the day or any visitors must check in at the front office and go through the weapons scanner before entering the building.
By working together, we can continue to foster a safe and secure environment for our schools and community.

WEAPONS DETECTION AT ATHLETIC EVENTS
Rutherford County Schools adding Weapons Detection Systems at Athletic Events
This is James Evans with Rutherford County Schools bringing you some important information about security procedures at RCS athletic events. Starting with varsity football games in September, Rutherford County Schools will weapons detection systems at event entrances. These procedures soon will be expanded to include coverage at other athletic events. Here are some things you can expect: Before you enter, there’s no need to remove everyday items such as your phone, keys, sunglasses, and wallet — these are fine to bring and you can keep them in your pockets. Items such as vapes or e-cigarettes, knives of any kind, tools, firearms, and ammunition are strictly prohibited inside our stadiums and schools. A clear bag policy is also in effect. Approved bags include a clear plastic, PVC, or vinyl bag up to 12 inches by 12 inches by 6 inches, or a one-gallon clear storage bag. As an alternative, you may carry a small clutch-style purse no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches. We do not allow backpacks, camera bags, diaper bags, drawstring bags, duffel bags, grocery totes, or regular purses. We care about your safety, the safety of our students, and the safety of game officials and employees. Spectators will not be permitted to enter athletic events if they cannot successfully pass the screening system.
ELEMENTARY DROP OFF PROCEDURES
📢 Elementary Families – Morning Arrival Reminders
Parents, we need your help to ensure every student begins the school day on time and ready to learn. Please share this information with all adults who may drop off your child in the mornings.
✅ Starting tomorrow:
Tardies will be enforced. All K–5 students must be inside the Elementary building by the 7:45am bell.
If a student is not inside by 7:45am, they will be considered tardy and a parent must walk them in to the main office to sign them in.
Leaving your house just 10 minutes earlier can make all the difference in helping your child (and others) arrive on time.
👉 Important to Notes:
You may see children still getting out of cars at 7:45am, but those are PreK students. Their drop-off window is 7:45–8:00am and requires a parent to sign them in with Mrs. Bonnie.
Elementary students (K–5) must be in the building by 7:45am—not still unloading at that time.
Our line is longer this year due to increased enrollment and new zoning. Also, our Kinder students are still learning drop-off routines, and tomorrow is just Day 3 for them to get out of their car on their own.
🚗 Car Rider Line Reminders:
Pull all the way up to the white-outlined space marked #7 at the end of the awning past the Elem door. This allows more cars to unload at once.
Unload ALL the way down the sidewalk—not just near the entrance. More unloading spots = faster line.
Starting at 7:30am, all cars exiting the Elem car line must turn RIGHT ONLY to keep traffic flowing.
Prepare students before reaching the sidewalk. Backpacks on, goodbyes said, and ready to hop out quickly. (Helpers will still be there to assist our littlest Eagles.)
📵 Safety Reminder:
Tennessee law prohibits holding your phone in an active school zone for any reason other than navigation. Please take photos or send messages before you leave home.
Thank you for working with us to set students up for success. Arriving on time ensures your child doesn’t miss valuable instruction and helps all students start their day smoothly. Together, we can make mornings safe, efficient, and positive! Remember to share this valuable information with all adults dropping kiddos in the morning. Thanks, again!
ELEMENTARY LUNCH GUEST
We're excited to start welcoming Elementary parents to join their children for lunch at school. We believe that sharing a meal with your child in the school environment can be a wonderful experience, allowing you to connect and share moments together during the day starting Monday, Sept. 8th.
EAG Elem Lunch Guest Policy:
Parents must sign in and out in the main office and present a photo ID upon arrival.
To preserve instructional time, parents are asked to wait at the Cafeteria Line B Entrance to join their child for lunch and to say “goodbye” to their child in the cafeteria before leaving.
We will have designated tables in the Large Cafeteria for parents to enjoy lunch with their children. These tables will provide a space for you to engage with your child while sharing a meal together.
Only the child of the parent in attendance may eat lunch with the parent. All other students will continue to sit with their respective classes during lunch.
Parents will be allowed for lunch, but at this time we cannot accommodate visitors for breakfast.
As a parent, what day can I join my child? What time are grade level lunches?
Due to limited space, grade levels will be allowed to have parents at lunch on the following days:
Monday- Kindergarten- 10:25am-10:55am
Tuesday- 1st Grade- 10:00am-10:30am
Wednesday- 2nd Grade- 10:05am-10:35am
Thursday- 3rd Grade- 10:40am-11:10am
Friday- 4th Grade- 10:45am-11:15am and 5th Grade- 10:30am-11:00am
We look forward to sharing this lunchtime experience with you and your Elementary children.
Encourage college and career planning.
Good morning Eagleville families,
We want to let you know about a free program with college planning tools, scholarship matches, and career exploration tool called Encourage college and career planning through ACT that is available to all 8th grade through 12th grade students. This is a completely voluntary survey/program. You can explore the website and program at encourageme.com. You can fill out the online form linked here or there are paper copies of the survey in our front office. Paper forms must be returned to the front office by Friday, November 27th in order to be processed.
NO LAPTOP PROTECTION PLAN
Parents, please be aware that the Laptop Protection Plan will not be offered this year. In past years, this has been available for students in grades 6-12; however, our district has discontinued this program. Families will be responsible for the cost of repairs to damaged laptops, so please encourage your students to take care of their devices.

YMCA INFORMATION
Hello Eagleville!!!
My name is Mr. Chandler, and I am this years’ Yearbook Advisor. I am happy to announce that we will be using Photo Circle to encourage students, teachers, staff, parents, and all Eagleville members to submit photos for consideration for the 2025-2026 yearbook.
Photo Circle is a photo-sharing app that lets students, parents, and teachers easily share pictures within a private group. Once you join our Yearbook circle, only the Yearbook Advisor, Mr. Chandler, can view and approve suitable images, making it a great way to document school events, field trips, or any after-school activity.
Safety Features:
● Private Groups: Only people who are invited or who have the link can join a circle.
● No Public Sharing: Photos are not posted on public feeds or social media, so your images stay within your trusted group. Once pictures are approved and sent to the yearbook app, they are deleted from Photo Circle. The public will never see who posted what.
● Control Over Membership: The Mediator, Mr. Chandler, can manage who is allowed in each circle, helping keep the group secure. Anyone who sends in anything illegal or inappropriate will be reported to the appropriate school official.
Photo Circle is designed to be a safe, closed environment for sharing memories, ensuring that students’ images are not exposed to the public, making it a secure option for families and schools. In addition, this allows the community of students, teachers, staff, parents, and all Eagleville members to be an active part of the 2025-2026 Yearbook.
