"EVERY NEW BEGINNING COMES FROM OTHER BEGINNING’S END."
- Seneca
Good Morning, CUSD,
This is a time for celebration and reflection as the cycle of a school year comes to a close!
As we begin the last week of school on Monday, please make sure to read your school newsletters carefully as there are many activities, events, and end-of-year procedures before schools close for summer. Take a look at the graphic below to see all promotions/graduation times.
Last week we held a special retirement celebration for our 2026 retirees. Congratulations to Eveleen Coker, Rise Cooley, Scott Dwinell, Justine Freeman, Crystal Garner, Lisa Kinzel, Kimberly Pittner, Benita Puente, Jennifer Vernallis, and Elizabeth Wertz. We are grateful for their many years of service to our students and schools and wish them the very best in their next chapter. Enjoy a well-deserved and restful retirement!
We still have many students who have not registered for next year. Please notify your school’s front office if you are NOT returning next year. If you are returning, please make sure you REGISTER your child as soon as possible to help us plan for class sizes and assignments.
Have a great final weekend of the school year!
Respectfully,
Karl J. Mueller

Ed Tech Parent Series
SDCOE is excited to announce the upcoming Educational Technology Parent Series, a free virtual learning opportunity open to all parents and educators across our region. This series is designed to support families and school communities in navigating educational technology and resources that empower student success.
As our educators, parents, and community come together to connect, challenge, and champion our students, we are humbled by the outpouring of compliments. What a positive testament to our CUSD family!
- I would like to recognize Courtney Sakai for her continued support throughout the end of our daughter’s 5th grade year. She has been an incredible source of encouragement and guidance for our family, both inside and outside the classroom. Courtney is always available to help, offer support, and gently mentor us as we learn to give our daughter more independence — something that can feel especially overwhelming as special needs parents. She is consistent, outgoing, and genuinely cheerful, and she has provided a steady, safe place for us to turn whenever we need reassurance or guidance. The care and dedication she brings to her students and families is truly special. Our district is incredibly lucky to have her.
- Marcia Morris: On Friday evening 5/22/26, during the CHS Powder Puff game, Ms. Morris demonstrated extreme patience and commitment in wrangling out-of-control middle schoolers on e-bikes who were causing a commotion in the bike area outside of BBMAC and the field and being extremely rude to her to include using very foul and inappropriate language directly to her. She was calm and provided some order to what was a chaotic situation. I credit her with her ability to maintain her composure and stay calm as kids were ganging up on her.
- Cecelia is a wonderful baker and brings daily goodies to share with her co-workers in the staff lounge. Such a treat and a daily kindness!

- We're so grateful for Ellen Cody running the Everyone a Reader (EAR) program again this year. Ellen prepped all the folders, made sure volunteers had a spot to read with students, updated volunteers on schedule/holiday changes, and ensured all volunteers had books and gifts. Our readers are so fortunate to have this program back. It made a world of difference for the fluency and accuracy of my students. Thank you for the extra work this requires to run this program.
- Coronado Schools Foundation Staff: What a treat to partner with Ooly and receive wonderful art supplies. Not only for each grade level, but a wonderful bag of gifts for teachers. It was like christmas opening the gifts. We're so lucky for CSF & Ooly's generosity.
Click here to recognize an employee or volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference. Those who are "caught" will receive a copy of the positive words that were shared about them and a "Caught Being Awesome" decal. Please take a minute or two to brighten someone else's day!
