Maggie Thorpe - 1st Grade Teacher
Hi! I’m Maggie Thorpe, a Layton native, BYU graduate, and proud Creekside Elementary teacher. Creekside feels like a second home to me, and I love being part of a community filled with such wonderful colleagues and students.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family and helping out on our mini-farm, where we have a goat, chickens, cats, and a dog! My husband and I have five children, two daughters-in-law, a grandbaby on the way, and a son currently serving a mission in Mongolia.
While I love being outdoors enjoying nature, my absolute favorite place to be is on the beach with a good book!
Richard Murray - 5/6 SB Teacher
This is my first year and Creekside. I am excited to be a Comet. “We Rock” I love it!!!
A little about me: I spent most of my career in Global Business Operations and am the father of 5 Children and I have 2 stepchildren. I have lived in 11 different states:
-California, Kentucky, Utah, Texas, New York, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Georgia, and Hawaii-
Things I enjoy doing: Watching Football and Basketball, riding my mountain bike and my electric scooter, traveling, and playing disc golf.
I have always loved teaching and training, coaching, and mentoring. I enjoy movies, the beach and being with family and friends.
I am excited to be here and am looking forward to meeting you all!

**Jr. High Sibling Expectaions**
- Junior high students who have siblings at Creekside are welcome to wait in front of the school, as long as they are not causing any disturbances.
- Junior high students without siblings attending Creekside should not loiter on or near the property.
The purpose of these guidelines is to reduce the ongoing rowdiness that has been reported, including skateboarding in front of the building and on steps, as well as loud and disruptive behavior around our building.
We want to recognize that there are several Fairfield students who are being respectful and responsible while waiting for their siblings, and we do not want to impose unnecessarily on them. Our goal is simply to reduce the unnecessary presence and disruptive behavior of those without a reason to be on campus.
Phone/Watch Policy
What to expect with phones and smartwatches
Creekside does not allow students to use personal phones during the school day. If a parent must be contacted, the student needs to receive teacher permission, after which they will use the school phone. Phones and smartwatches must be kept in backpacks.
Creekside Handbook States:
Our electronic device policy remains largely unchanged in elementary schools. However, we do want to send this both to provide additional information and as a reminder so you can prepare appropriately for the school year.
Senate Bill 178 - Devices in Public Schools went into effect July 1, 2025 and prohibits students from using cellphones, smartwatches, or emerging technologies during classroom hours. While establishing a default, the law allows local education agencies (school districts) to create exemptions and craft their own policies.
The Davis School District Board of Education adopted a policy that prohibits electronic devices in elementary school throughout the entire school day. In secondary schools, students will be permitted to access them during passing periods and lunch.
While Creekside has always had a no cellphone policy, the addition of
smartwatches is new. In the past, watches could be worn if they were used strictly to tell time, but they will now be required to be stored in backpacks during the school day just like cellphones.
The following steps will be taken to help support students who access electronic devices during school hours:
First occurrence - the device will be taken away by the teacher and returned to the student at the end of the day. Parents will be notified.
Second occurrence - the device will be taken away and turned in to the office.
An administrator will meet with the student and return the device to the student at the end of the day. Parents will be notified.
Third and subsequent occurrences - the device will be taken away and turned in to the office. A parent will be required to pick up the device in the office.
Students who have a device listed as an accommodation on a special education or health plan (such as diabetics who use a phone to monitor glucose levels) are exempt from this policy as it pertains to their accommodation.
Parents, please help us by enforcing this at home. Do not allow your child to contact you on their personal device during school hours. Make plans before school starts or contact them on their device AFTER the dismissal bell.
Pet Policy
No Animals allowed on School property
We love your dogs! However, we ask that you please do not bring dogs, or any other animal on school property.
"Privately owned animals are only permitted on school premises with explicit consent from the Executive Director or direct supervisor. Otherwise, it is unlawful to bring domestic animals onto the grounds of any public school, regardless of whether the animal is restrained by a leash, chain, rope, cord, or similar device." -ut.gov
Walk Your Wheels!!
At Creekside we always Walk our Wheels on school property. This protects our walkers from accidentally getting hit by someone on wheels. This applies to EVERYONE!
No Toys Allowed
Toys are not allowed at school. We welcome balls, jumpropes, and other approved recess equipment to be used at recess only. Please label all personal recess equipment with students name.
No Face paints, faces must ALWAYS be clean and visible
