We’ve heard the saying “it takes a village to raise a child,” and that feels more true than ever. We all need a little help sometimes, especially when our kids are young, but we may not always know who to turn to.
That’s what ECFE is for.
Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) is a statewide program in Minnesota that gives children and families the tools they need to thrive. Our classes and sessions are designed to help with the things that matter most:
- Individual attention time with parents/caregivers and their children to help strengthen bonds
- Playful learning time to help children with their next phase while minimizing separation anxiety
- Parenting discussion time for parents and caregivers to talk about their parenting joys, hopes and questions
Being a part of ECFE is easy. We’re close to you, and our flexible sessions are built for busy families.
ECFE in Lake Superior School District currently has openings in our Tuesday evening session in Two Harbors and Tuesday 11 AM session in Silver Bay. Join us!
What can you expect when you arrive at ECFE?
When you enter the ECFE classroom, you will find planned activities including dramatic play, motor, literacy, STEM, sensory and art activities will be available for you and your child(ren) to explore.
After exploring, we will share a literacy rich circle time. We know that circle time can be challenging for little ones, so we try to keep it short & interesting. If your child wanders away, he or she is still listening and will be supervised by other teachers while they explore.
Parents and children typically separate after circle time. When separation is possible, parents will participate in a discussion led by the parent educator. A variety of parent interest topics will be covered. During parent time, the children will explore and play in the classroom.
Children’s play time will end with a short circle time before the parents return.
Preschool is underway! Some classrooms still have spots available.
