Dear George Walton Academy Community,

In recent years, thanks to the generosity and support of our community, we have been able to invest in campus-wide security upgrades, including security cameras and a scheduled door-locking system. These measures are an essential part of keeping our campus safe and secure. In light of recent events within our broader community, we recognize the importance of ongoing security enhancements to protect our students, staff, and visitors. This commitment has led us to open a second phase of security improvements with the introduction of the CENTEGIX security system, which includes the CrisisAlert platform and a new Enhanced Visitor Management system.

CENTEGIX CrisisAlert System

CrisisAlert equips our school with wearable panic buttons, enabling staff to respond instantly to emergencies. By pressing a button, staff can alert responders and relay their precise campus location data, ensuring immediate support. This innovative technology operates across all areas of our campus, without relying on cell service or Wi-Fi, allowing staff to call for help wherever they are.

The CrisisAlert system offers several important benefits:

  • Rapid Emergency Response: Staff can respond to medical needs, security concerns, or other critical situations within seconds.
  • Pinpoint Accuracy: Real-time location tracking guides responders directly to where help is needed across our 61 acre campus.
  • Enhanced Safety for All: The CrisisAlert empowers our school community, ensuring every student, staff, and family feels secure and supported during their time on campus.

CENTEGIX Enhanced Visitor Management System

We are also introducing the CENTEGIX Enhanced Visitor Management system to track and manage campus visitors effectively. This system offers a streamlined way to check in, authenticate, and monitor the location of visitors in real time. It helps ensure that only permitted, verified individuals are on campus, reinforcing a safe school environment for all.

These new campus safety systems reflect our deep commitment to creating a safe and positive environment for every student and faculty member at George Walton Academy. We recognize the trust you place in us each day by entrusting your children to our care, and we are dedicated to honoring that trust by continually enhancing our safety measures. We want every family to feel confident that GWA is a secure, welcoming place where students can focus on learning, growth, and connection. Thank you for being part of our community and for supporting our commitment to student safety and well-being.

Warm regards,

GWA Administration

Class Bonding

Students in Dr. Dibble’s Chemistry and Honors Chemistry classes researched compounds including flavors, scents, medicines, fuels and more. After meticulously crafting molecules from Styrofoam and wooden dowels they presented them to the class. Students were graded on speaking as well as the geometry of their models.

Ancient Egypt Meets Modern Times

In Ms. Dickerson's sixth-grade Social Studies class, students engaged in a comprehensive study of Ancient Egypt. As a culminating activity, students were tasked with conducting research on a specific pharaoh and selecting a creative medium through which to present their findings. Options included a 3D tomb, a magazine article, an interview skit, or a rap/poem. Presentations were delivered to the class, allowing each student to showcase their research in a unique and engaging manner.

They Voted!

Fifth graders learned about the voting and election process with an engaging lesson. On Election Day, they ran their own polling station. All students and faculty members were able to vote for a book character for president. Voters selected "Duck" for president, the character from "Duck for President," by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin, with 60% of the votes.

Next Level

Congratulations to our Lady Dawg athletes, Rylan, Erin, Ashley and Azalea, as they commit to play their sport at the collegiate level! They made it official – on National Signing Day, before a crowd of family members, friends, classmates, and coaches. We wish each of them all the best and continued success in their sport and in the classroom.
