Principal's Message
Conley Families,
This week was an incredibly special one for me as I officially became Dr. Surjan! I successfully completed my doctoral journey and I could not have imagined a more wonderful community to celebrate this milestone with!
From countless balloon deliveries to heartfelt cards, student-created coloring pages, hugs, and words of congratulations, I have been overwhelmed by the love and kindness shown by our students, staff, and families. What was already a meaningful personal accomplishment became even more memorable because of the thoughtful ways our Conley community celebrated alongside me.
My heart is full, and I am so grateful to be YOUR principal!
Warmly,
Dr. Surjan
Conley Announcements & Reminders 📣
Halloween Costume Reminders
Please read District 158 guidelines regarding Halloween. Students and staff can dress up for Halloween. All Halloween Fall Parties will take place on Friday, October 30th from 2:00-3:00pm. If you are volunteering in your child’s classroom please bring in your driver’s license so that we can RAPTOR you in.
Costume Guidelines:
Students will bring their costumes to school unless the party is scheduled for 8:30 in the morning. Teachers will communicate the time of their party to you.
Costumes should be worn over clothes so that students can pull them on/off independently.
Costumes should be appropriate, should not be violent in nature and should not include weapons, (fake or plastic), or masks that cover the entire face.
Hair dye, make-up, and minimal face paint must be applied at home (i.e. whiskers and a nose).
Yearbook Cover Contest
Calling all Coyote artists! We are excited to invite students to showcase their creativity by designing the cover of our 2026–2027 Conley Yearbook! Designs should reflect this year's school theme, "This is OUR SEASON!"
All submissions must include the words This is OUR SEASON!, Conley Elementary, and 2026–2027. Artwork should be created on plain white paper in portrait orientation using markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Each student may submit one entry and should include their name, grade level, and teacher on the back.
All entries are due to Mrs. Golyshko by Thursday, November 5th.
We can't wait to see how our talented Coyotes bring this year's theme to life!
Upcoming Conley Service Project
This November, Conley Elementary is excited to spread kindness and make a difference by supporting Macyn’s Jars! From November 2–24, our school community will collect supplies to help bring comfort and joy to children and adults with special needs during hospital visits and emergency situations.
Macyn’s Jars is a nonprofit organization that fills jars with five different fidget toys and donates them to hospital emergency departments, fire stations, police stations, and specialty offices. These small jars can make a big difference by providing comfort and a positive distraction during stressful or unfamiliar experiences.
How can your family help? Families are invited to purchase items from the Amazon Wish List linked here. These supplies will be used to fill jars for donation. Please note that only items from the Amazon Wish List will be accepted to ensure the supplies meet the organization's needs.
Families who prefer to make a monetary contribution can donate directly at www.macynsjars.org/donate.
Every item donated helps fill another jar and brings a little more kindness into someone's day! Thank you for helping our Conley Coyotes make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Together, we can turn small acts of kindness into a big impact!

October is ADHD Awareness Month
ADHD affects millions of children and youth, impacting executive function, emotional regulation, and daily learning. Behind every challenge, however, is a student with unique strengths, creativity, and potential.
Need Support? We’re Here to Help. Our district is partnered with Care Solace to provide complimentary, confidential mental health care coordination for our students, staff, and their families. Together, we can ensure every student receives the understanding, care, and guidance they need to thrive.

Drop-Off Locations: All District 158 schools and the Administration Office
Let’s come together as a community and surpass our record of 282 pairs of eyeglasses collected!
