This Week at SLS...
Welcome back!
It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back to school this week. The children have settled brilliantly into their new classes and have made a fantastic start to the new school year.
A particularly warm welcome goes to the newest members of our school family—our new Reception starters! We have been so proud of how confidently they have begun their journey with us and how quickly they are settling into school life.
We are looking forward to sharing the children’s achievements, experiences and special moments through our weekly newsletter. Here’s to a happy and successful year ahead!
Well done to this weeks Gold Award Winners!

Meet The Teacher Open Evening
We warmly invite parents and carers to our Meet the Teacher Open Evening on Monday 28 September.
These informal sessions are a valuable opportunity to meet your child’s class teacher and find out more about class routines, expectations and the curriculum planned for the year ahead.
Teachers will explain what the children will be learning, share ways you can support learning at home and answer any questions you may have.
Session times:
- Class 1: 3.30–4.00pm
- Class 2: 4.00–4.30pm
- Class 3: 4.30–5.00pm
- Reception: 5.00–5.30pm
We hope you will be able to join us. We understand that some parents may be unable to make these times and will send out the slides after the sessions for information.
Sporting Events
Girls’ Football and Athletics Event
Next Friday afternoon, all girls in Years 1–6 will visit Percy Fields for a special sporting event organised by North Yorkshire Sport, in partnership with Scotton Scorchers and Harrogate Harriers.
The girls will take part in a range of football and athletics activities, giving them an opportunity to develop their skills, try different events and enjoy being active alongside their friends.
While the girls are at Percy Fields, the boys will remain at school and take part in a programme of outdoor activities organised by school staff.
Could you help?
We would be very grateful for some parent or carer volunteers to help support the sessions during the afternoon. If you are available and would be happy to help, please contact the school office.
Your support would be greatly appreciated!
Change to Friday Wraparound Care
Change to Friday Wraparound Care
Unfortunately, due to the very low number of bookings, our current wraparound care provision is no longer financially viable on Friday afternoons. We will therefore be offering a reduced service on Fridays, with care available only until 4.30pm.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have already booked a Friday session through Arbor, please rebook the new, shorter session. If you need any help with this, please contact the school office.
