Welcome to our TAME monthly newsletter! 🪅
Letter from the President
Texas Association of Mariachi Educators
Dear TAME Members, Friends, and Supporters,
It is with immense gratitude and excitement that I welcome you to the very first edition of the TAME Monthly Newsletter for the 2025-2026 academic school year! As the newly elected President of the Texas Association of Mariachi Educators, I am deeply honored to serve alongside a passionate and dedicated board. Together, we will continue to build and cultivate this vibrant community of mariachi educators across our great state.
TAME has experienced incredible growth over the past few years, a true testament to the love, commitment, and excellence each of you brings to your classrooms and communities. With that growth, we recognize the importance of evolving and adapting. That’s why we are in the process of restructuring and revamping our organization—to better support your needs, advocate for your programs, and celebrate the richness of mariachi education in Texas.
This newsletter marks the beginning of a new chapter. Each month, we will be bringing you valuable resources and highlights, including:
- Professional Development Opportunities tailored to mariachi educators
- Vendor of the Month spotlights, helping you connect with quality services and products
- Mariachi Program Highlights – share what’s going on in your classroom or community!
- University Connections – featuring programs, faculty, and opportunities at the collegiate level
- Polls & Surveys to gather your input and better guide the future of TAME
- Contest Updates and Details, so you can stay informed and prepared
Our goal is simple: to uplift, inform, and unite our mariachi community. Whether you’re leading an established program or just starting out, please know that TAME is here for you. Your voice, your students, and your stories matter.
Let’s continue working together to ensure that mariachi music remains a powerful and enduring part of our students’ educational and cultural experience. I look forward to getting to know many of you throughout the year—and I can’t wait to see what we accomplish together.
With gratitude and excitement,
Velma Salas-Garcia
