Cambrian Superintendent Update
October 1, 2025

Dear Cambrian Families,
Strengthening the HomeโSchool Connection
One of the most important factors in student success is a strong partnership between home and school. When families and educators work together, students feel supported, motivated, and empowered to do their best.
International Walk N Roll Day
Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating International Walk N Roll Day today! All of our schools participated, and it was inspiring to see so many students and families walking, rolling, and riding together. We hope to share a few photos from the day soon.
Congratulations, Sartorette Elementary! ๐
Yesterday, Sartorette Elementary School was formally recognized by the City of San Josรฉ for its Hispanic Student Achievement & Family Engagement Program. This honor celebrated the incredible collaboration of students, families, staff, and community partners who are strengthening connections and driving student success.
๐ A huge congratulations to Principal Debbie Stein and the Sartorette community for this well-deserved recognition!
Attendance Letters on eduClimber
This year, the Cambrian School District is sending attendance letters via email, from eduClimber. It is important that you open and read the letters from eduClimber regarding your childโs attendance. Please look for mail from no-reply@educlimber.com and check your spam folder
District Survey
The District is conducting a confidential survey of randomly selected voters in partnership with True North Research. If you receive an invitation, we encourage you to participate โ your feedback and opinions are greatly valued and help guide our work.
TKโ5 Goal-Setting Conferences
Our schools (TKโ5) will host goal-setting conferences October 6โ14. These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for parents/guardians and teachers to sit down together to: Celebrate student strengths and growth, identify specific learning goals for the year, and create strategies to support learning at home and in the classroom. I encourage every family to attend and actively participate. This partnership makes a positive impact in shaping your childโs educational journey.
While middle school may not have traditional conferences, maintaining strong connections is just as important. Here are a few ways families can stay engaged:
Check in weekly: Ask open-ended questions about school (โWhat was the most interesting thing you learned today?โ).
Review progress together: Look at assignments, projects, or PowerSchool, our digital grade platform, with your student.
Connect with staff: Donโt wait for a formal event. Reach out to teachers, counselors, or administrators via email or phone when you have questions or would like to share insights.
Attend school events: Concerts, games, open houses, and performances are all great ways to connect informally with staff and support your child.
Our schools will be hosting a variety of community events over the next few weeks. Be sure to check your schoolโs newsletter for specific days and times. These events are a great way to engage with your children in their school environment, meet their friends and classmates, connect with other families and staff in an informal setting, and celebrate student performances, cultural events, and seasonal activities together.
Attending these gatherings helps foster a strong sense of belonging for our child and families.
Sincerely,

Negotiations Update
The District is continuing to meet with our employee bargaining units in ongoing negotiations. We have a shared interest to recruit and retain the very best teachers and staff for our district.
As we move forward, it is important to recognize the financial challenges currently facing the District. We are experiencing a significant and unforeseen decline in student enrollment, which directly impacts our Average Daily Attendance (ADA) funding. Because ADA is the primary source of revenue for our schools, this enrollment shift is creating substantial budgetary constraints that must be carefully considered in the decision-making process.
Despite these challenges, both the District, CSEA and CDTA remain committed to continuing constructive dialogue. Our shared goal is to find solutions that support our staff while maintaining fiscal responsibility and preserving high-quality educational opportunities for students.
We will continue to provide updates as negotiations progress.
