Hayden Walter competed in the Section 14 Ag Ed Contest! She had to write a lesson plan, prepare all of her materials, and make a worksheet to go over the lesson! She placed 3rd out of 6! We are so proud of her and can’t wait to see her do it again in the future!
Isaac Bauman gave an impromptu presentation at the NBCUSD#16 Board Meeting on the FFA National Convention and the importance of the board supporting their organization, fundraisers, and field trips.
The September chapter meeting held this week and the group went over the upcoming events and different ways our members can get involved in our chapter. Afterwards we went outside and played a fun game of wiffle ball. We also have our Fall fundraiser out. It’s turbo fire pizzas and Turasky meats. If you are interested in buying and supporting our chapter please let a FFA member know!

Ms. Kennedy's Spanish III and Spanish IV students taught their first monthly lessons to Ms. Burke's 6th grade classes on Thursday. Spanish III students taught colors and Spanish IV taught various words related to fall. The students enjoyed getting their Spanish names for the year, learning fun vocabulary, and playing games to practice. We are looking forward to a great year getting to know these students. NP3 Program Provides Career Exploration Opportunities!
Amanda Winter from St. John’s College of Nursing in Springfield, IL reached out to Dr. Viola last week to provide important information about the NP3 Program:
In the past, we have held the NP3 program. We are revamping the program to be more inclusive and hands on. This year, we are hosting 6 Wednesday night sessions spread throughout the academic school year. The Teen Health Care Exploration Program sessions will be from 4:30-7:30pm and cover a variety of topics. Not only will high school students be interacting with nursing students and other healthcare professionals, but we will have some interprofessional partners. We invite your juniors and seniors to sign up to attend this year! If students attend 3 or more sessions out of 6, they are eligible for a tuition benefit to St. John’s College of Nursing. I will attach the brochure, tentative schedule, and the online form where students can sign up! The online form gives a brief description of the session as well.
Notice that there is an open house date on Wednesday, September 25th from 3-5pm. This is for students, parents, counselors, or even science teachers who would like to learn more about the program or the simulation center. We have hosted field trips in the past for science classes and would love to have you!

What is 211?
With approximately 1.5 million nonprofit organizations in the United States plus scores of
government agencies, finding help can be confusing and intimidating. People who need help
often do not know where to begin.
211 call centers are staffed by trained specialists who quickly assess the callers’ needs and
refer them to the help they seek. It’s simple to remember, accessible to everyone, toll-free,
available 24/7, with multilingual capabilities.
211 in Sangamon and Menard County is funded by United Way of Central Illinois. By bringing
this service to the community, especially at a time when more individuals and families need
health and human service support, United Way is fulfilling its mission of mobilizing resources to
meet community needs.
