A few words from Dr. Crater
The first day of the 2025–2026 school year is almost here, and the excitement is building! Classrooms are coming to life, lockers are standing ready, and our staff is busy putting the finishing touches on everything for opening day.
This week, we’re focused on creating a warm and welcoming start while also setting clear expectations for what it means to be a successful middle schooler. To help build a positive and productive learning environment, we’ve included cell phone and locker guidelines below; which will be reviewed throughout the week. In addition, our PBIS lessons will guide students in understanding the behaviors that make Strayer a place for both meaningful connections and academic success. Our goal is to keep our message clear, consistent, and supportive—so every Panther has the opportunity to shine.
And yes, first-day vibes are in full swing—whether it’s picking out that outfit that makes you feel like yourself, savoring a breakfast that gives you energy for the day, or getting ready to greet old friends and make new ones, there’s a buzz in the air you won’t want to miss.
I'm looking forward to a full of learning, growth, and Panther pride—see you soon!

Day 2 - Regular Schedule
Day 2 – Tuesday, August 26 – Normal Bell Schedule
Starting on Day 2, we’ll follow our regular bell schedule, but with a special focus on building a strong school community. Students will engage in PBIS lessons on expected school behaviors, and teachers will spend time fostering relationships and building their classroom communities.
We’ll wrap up the day with a PBIS Kickoff Assembly to celebrate the year ahead and reinforce the positive culture we want to see every day.
Starting Wednesday, August 27
We’ll move into our normal daily rhythm. Teachers will begin diving into instruction, guiding students into consistent routines, and keeping our focus on learning, growth, and Panther pride.
Student Personal Device Expectations
Student Expectations:
Students will keep their cell phones in their locker for the duration of the school day.
All devices must be on silent mode while they are in the locker.
If a student leaves the classroom for any reason (restroom), they should not stop at their locker to get their phone.
If a student uses their phone at a time you are not supposed to, a staff member will confiscate it and turn it into the office.
If a student has a documented need requiring a phone, please communicate that with the school counselor and grade-level administrator.
Students who are learning English may use their phones to translate printed text or to use a translation app for assistance.
Arrival and Drop Off Procedures
To ensure a safe arrival and dismissal for all students, please review the following information carefully. Direct any questions to a Strayer administrator via email.
Student Locker Expectations
Students will receive a locker and combination on the first day of school. Teachers will allow students to practice their locker on the first day and throughout the week.
- Students will keep bookbags and any type of drawstring bag in their locker during the school day.
- The only exception is a documented injury that would prohibit a student from carrying school materials.
