PTA Weekly Update

Good morning Huskie families,
Hope you enjoyed the weekend! Our PTA membership drive continues. See below to learn more about how the PTA supports our students and teachers. Please consider supporting our efforts by joining the PTA. As an added incentive, the first 150 members to join the PTA will receive a calendar magnet so you don't miss any school or PTA activities this year.
We may only be in week 2 of school, but there's already a lot going on! Highlights for this and next week:
- Decorate your porch for fall and give back to a good cause! Purchase mums from the We Grow Dreams Greenhouse. Proceeds from each order go back to the PTA. Orders are due this Wednesday, August 26.
- Join us for the first PTA Meeting of the year on Thursday, August 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Multipurpose Room. Meet the executive committee and other parents, and ask questions.
- Want to get involved as a room parent? Submit your info by Friday, September 4.
- Stock up on new spirit wear for yourself and your students. Orders are due by September 7.
What is the PTA? How Can I Get Involved?
PTA stands for Parent Teacher Association, a school-based organization with a mission to make school a better place for students to learn. We are a group of parents, guardians, family & community members, teachers, and administrators that work together to create fun events, support students and staff, and collaborate with others to make our students' time at school the best possible. We invest over $55,000 annual to enhance learning and enrich our school community.
Our success as an organization depends on parent, teacher, and community involvement.
Please join us by becoming a Spring Brook PTA member this year!
Our membership drive is also one of our largest fundraisers of the year. Your membership ensures that a number of first quarter student expenses are covered.

Decorate Your Space and Support Spring Brook and We Grow Dreams
Fall will be here before we know it! Be ready with this special opportunity to support two organizations with one purchase.
We have once again partnered with We Grow Dreams Greenhouse, a local not-for-profit corporation that provides job training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. This is our fourth year working together and their mums are always stunning and long lasting.
You can order 9" round pots or 10" hanging baskets in assorted colors. Plants are anticipated to be in full bloom during the first week of October. Pickup will be held September 24 at the Breckenridge Clubhouse from 2:00-6:00 p.m.

Mums are on sale through Wednesday, August 26.
Join us for the first PTA meeting of the year this Thursday, August 27. Meetings are held from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. in the Spring Brook Multipurpose Room and via Google Meet. We will present our plans for the year and propose the annual budget at this session. Meetings are casual and all are a great opportunity to hear from our principal and learn more about all that goes on at Spring Brook.
Younger children are welcome to attend with their parents, coloring materials and legos will be available for their entertainment.

Back to school means new backpacks, shoes, and of course, NEW SPIRIT WEAR! Don't miss your chance to purchase this year's newest designs. Two new designs are available in three colors and in t-shirts, performance tees, and hoodies. This is your only opportunity to order spirit wear this fall.
Visit our spirit shop to purchase yours today. Orders are due September 7 and will be sent home with students a few weeks later.

The PTA is always looking for new ways to partner with the community to enrich the lives of our students. We expanded our sponsorship program last year and plan to continue these efforts in the 2026-2027 school year.

PTA Reflections Program Theme for 2026-2027
The national PTA has been committed to arts education for more than 50 years. Students who love art, music, photography, dance, writing, or film are invited to create original works of art for the PTA's Art Reflections Program. Each year, hundreds of thousands of students in pre-K through grade 12 participate, creating artwork in response to a student-created theme.
The theme for the 2026-2027 Art Reflections Program is: “What My Culture Means to Me.” Take some time with your kids to think about this theme and how they might participate. Entries will be due mid October.

Call for Room Parents!
We are currently looking for Room Parents for our Spring Brook classrooms. This is a great chance to get involved at school and meet other children and parents in your classroom. The Room Parent is a school year-long volunteer position that assists with class parties, recruits volunteers when needed, and is vital to communicating PTA information to the class along with other tasks throughout the year.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, please submit your information via the Room Parent Interest Form. Forms are due by Friday, September 4th to be considered. You will be notified by September 7th whether or not you are selected.

Committee Opportunities for 2026-2027 School Year
The PTA offers many ways to get involved in our school and with our students. Several event and program committees are in need of support this year. We are still seeking chairs for Teacher Appreciation and Science Fair (which will be a learning role this year to take over next year).
