Parkrose Middle School Band
Next year, your student has the amazing opportunity to continue their musical education and join band at Parkrose Middle School! Studying music in Middle and High School is a great way to make friends, stay focused, take a break from regular classroom learning, and make beautiful music for the world to hear. We have limited space in our classes next year, so it’s important to sign up for band quickly to ensure that you get placed in the class next year.
If you are interested in signing up for band, please visit our band website where you can find more information on the class and officially sign up. You can also let Mrs. Smith know directly if you're interested in joining.
We will reach out to families who decide to enroll in band with more information before the Fall. Please contact Mrs. Smith with questions!

8th Grade Students in Civics - Earn High School Credit
We have a great opportunity for all 8th grade students taking Civics this year as an elective. All 8th grade students taking the elective Civics class at Parkrose Middle School this year have an extra and optional project they can complete and earn a .5 high school credit. They can use this credit to reach the required number of credits needed for graduation from High School. This project can be done in written or typed form or can be done using technology modes such as google slides or powerpoint. There are three options for these projects and they are listed below:
Comparing and contrasting two forms of government that we study in class.
Analyzing amendments or constitutional principles and recommending if or how they should be changed.
Analyzing different branches of government and evaluating which branch they believe is the most important.
If you have an 8th grader taking Civics at the middle school during second semester and you are interested in or have questions about this project for your child to earn the .5 high school credit please contact Mr. Hobbs at nick_hobbs@parkrose.k12.or.us for more information.
