Quarter 4 Reset: Expectations & Reminders
This week, I met with students to reset expectations for a successful final quarter. We revisited the importance of being responsible, ready, and respectful in all areas of school life.
Key reminders included:
- Attendance & Timeliness: 3 tardies to a single class and 3 tardies to school result in after-school detention; repeated detentions can lead to Saturday school.
- Electronics: Phones and headphones should be away at all times unless a teacher allows use. Chromebooks must be charged daily.
- Morning & House Procedures: The warning bell rings at 9:00; students must be in House by 9:05 to avoid a book signature.
- Academic Language: I reminded students to choose kind words when speaking to each other. Mean, disrespectful language and/or racial slurs will not be tolerated.
- Behavior & Respect: No touching others, respect for peers and staff, and listening the first time when told to stop.
- No Gum Policy: Due to ongoing issues with cleanliness and classroom disruptions gum is no longer allowed.
- 8TH GRADE ONLY- Snacks & Privileges: Snacks during Gold (12:00–12:15) are for 8th grade only. Snack should not leave the classroom. Also, misuse of programs like East Buds or class materials may result in lost privileges.
- Academics Matter: This quarter impacts sports eligibility for the fall— staying focused is essential!
Let’s finish the year strong by making positive choices and supporting one another. Thank you for reinforcing these expectations at home!
