Dear WMS Families,

As we head into June, there is a great deal of excitement throughout Walpole Middle School! Our seventh-grade students had a fantastic opportunity this week to visit the Museum of Fine Arts, where they engaged in meaningful learning experiences beyond the classroom walls. With three weeks remaining in the school year, we have many exciting activities, celebrations, field trips, and end-of-year events still ahead. We have also successfully concluded all MCAS testing for the year, and I want to thank our students and staff for their hard work, focus, and perseverance throughout the testing season. We look forward to making the most of these final weeks together as we finish the year strong.

Warm regards,

Carrie Ruggiero, Principal

Exciting News for Student Absences, Dismissals and Tardies!

Instead of sending a handwritten note to the WMS Main office you can now use the WMS Notification Form.

  • For Absences and Tardies, we ask that parents do their best to complete this form within 24 hours of the missed instructional time in order to communicate with the Main Office.
  • For Dismissals, we ask that parents do their best to complete this form at least two hours prior to dismissal, so our staff can be prepared and teaching and learning is not disrupted by phone calls from the Main Office.
  • It is important for you to complete this form so a digital pass can be created for your student which will minimize classroom interruption.
  • If parents are dismissing multiple students at the same time, please complete the form for each student.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

National Junior Honors Society (NJHS) Application Emailed to Eligible Students

For the 2026-2027 school year, we are planning for Walpole Middle School to be a member school for the National Junior Honor Society. At the 7th Grade Award Ceremony, we spoke to the 7th Grade students about their opportunity to apply to be in NJHS for next year.

At this time, our current 7th grade is the only grade eligible to become members of this group. On Friday, May 1, eligible students received an email to their school accounts from Ms. Elwell to invite them to apply. In order to be eligible to apply, students had to academically qualify with a cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher through their time at WMS.

NJHS is based on five pillars: scholarship, service, leadership, character and citizenship. In order to complete the application, students should complete the form in Ms. Elwell's email and outline their specific community service before the stated deadline of Friday, June 5.

For any students who were not eligible at this time, or for any students who miss the deadline, be aware that you will be able to apply next year as well. If families have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Elwell, Ms. Naismith, or your student's assistant principal.

This Math site for parents is designed specifically for parents and families. It offers a breakdown of the topics in each of the 8 units covered throughout the course of the year. Most of the topics have a video link built in that will offer support for students and/or parents/families when working on math at home. There is a section for each grade level course, as well as math connections. In addition, there is a section that breaks down the prerequisite skills that play a big role for each grade level. We hope this serves as a valuable resource for parents and families throughout the year.
