THE GRIZZLY GAZETTE
HAPPENING THIS WEEK AT GRISSOM
MR. HAUSER’S WEEKLY UPDATE
GRISSOM FAMILIES-WE NEED YOUR HELP
We’ve seen an increase in students having food delivered to school through DoorDash, Uber Eats, restaurants, and other delivery services. As a reminder, outside food deliveries for students are not permitted during the school day, and our office will not be able to accept or distribute these orders.
The good news? Every Grissom student can receive school lunch each day FREE of charge! Students are also always welcome to bring lunch from home.
We appreciate your help reinforcing this with your student. Limiting outside deliveries helps us keep our entrances secure, reduce disruptions, and keep our office staff focused on supporting students.
Thanks, Grissom families, for your understanding and partnership!

GRIZZLY LEGEND OF THE WEEK
GRIZZLY LEGEND OF THE WEEK!
It’s Friday, which means it’s time to recognize another student who is doing the little things that make Grissom a better place.
This week’s Grizzly Legend of the Week is… 6th grader JOSEPH D!
Joseph was nominated by Mrs. Slebodnick, who shared that Joseph is an active participant in class every day and consistently makes thoughtful contributions to class discussions. He is a great role model for his peers, brings a positive attitude to learning, and is always on task.
Most importantly, Joseph is off to a great start in 6th grade!
Joseph, that’s exactly what Grizzly PRIDE looks like. Keep showing up, participating, setting the example, and taking PRIDE in what you do.
Congratulations, Joseph D — our Grizzly Legend of the Week!
Keep it up, Joseph. You’re setting the tone for a great year!
WORLD'S FINEST CHOCOLATE
🍫 THE CHOCOLATE IS HERE, GRIZZLIES! 🍫 Yesterday we officially kicked off our World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser, and our Grizzlies are ready to get selling! Every box sold helps support student enrichment opportunities, school supplies, and student & staff appreciation right here at Grissom Middle School. Each box contains 40 assorted $2 chocolate bars, and students can earn prizes at every level they reach! And yes…we've got some pretty awesome incentives this year — lollipops, gift cards, the Game Trailer, a shopping trip to Somerset Collection, the Wheel of Cash, and more! 👀💰🎮🛍️ 📅 Last day to pick up chocolate: October 2 A reminder to our Grizzlies: Safety first — no door-to-door selling. Ask family and friends for their support! Let's see what you’ve got, Grissom. Sell some chocolate, earn some prizes, and help support our school! 🐻💚 Grizzly PRIDE is what we do!
💵 All money due: October 9
GETTING TO KNOW A GRIZZLY
🐻 NEW THIS YEAR: GETTING TO KNOW A GRIZZLY!
We have some pretty incredible people who make Grissom a special place, and we want our Grizzly community to get to know them a little better!
Each week, we’ll sit down with a different member of the Grissom staff for a few questions, some rapid fire, and hopefully a few laughs along the way.
Who should we sit down with next? 👀

SPORTS PHYSICALS
As we get ready for our fall athletic season, we want to remind families of an important requirement for any student planning to participate in a sport.
Any student attending a tryout or practice MUST have a current physical on file AND uploaded to Final Forms before they can participate.
This includes students participating in football and volleyball tryouts and practices.
Physical forms, along with directions for completing Final Forms, are available in the Grissom main office.
Families can also access Final Forms directly here:
https://warrenconsolidated-mi.finalforms.com/
Please make sure all required information is completed before your student attends a tryout or practice. Students who do not have the required physical and Final Forms information completed will not be able to participate.
Thank you for helping us make sure our student-athletes are ready to go. We’re looking forward to a great year of Grizzly Athletics!
GRISSOM IN ACTION
👟 GRIZZLY KICKS OF THE WEEK 👟
Apparently Kyndal, Casey, and Paris understood the assignment… and they made sure Mr. Hauser did too!
Four pairs of red and white kicks, one great picture, and a whole lot of Grizzly style.
Assignment understood. Assignment completed.
Who’s matching with Mr. Hauser next week?
GRISSOM DAILY BELL SCHEDULE
E Scooter/E Bike Regulations
With the increased use of e-bikes and electric scooters by students, we want to ensure that students and families have clear information regarding applicable laws and expectations for their use on school property. The attached flyer is intended to provide consistent guidance across the district and can be shared with your school community.

ATTENDANCE
ATTENDANCE MATTERS
Did you know that missing just two days of school a month adds up to nearly 20 days in a year? That’s a full month of lost learning! At Grissom Middle School, we believe every day matters. When students are present, they not only keep up academically, but also build friendships, confidence, and strong routines that set them up for future success.
Attendance is a priority this year at GMS, and we want to reduce the number of absences students have. Please see the flyer below for ways you can help support your child’s attendance. If you or your child run into any barriers to regular attendance, please reach out to the main office so we can work together to find solutions.
GMS BOOSTER CLUB
📣 Calling All Parents – We Need You!
Our Grissom Boosters are a huge part of what makes our school community special—but they can’t do it without parent support.
We’re looking for parents to join the Boosters and help chaperone at Booster-sponsored events. These activities make lasting memories for our students, but they only happen if we have volunteers.
FROM OUR GMS COUNSELING DEPARTMENT
With the start of the school year we encourage all parents to actively use the PowerSchool Parent Portal to stay informed about their child’s academic progress throughout the year. (You’ll find the link below.)
If there’s anything you’d like us to know to better support your child—whether it’s their learning style, any challenges they face, or other important details—please don’t hesitate to reach out to their counselor.
By working together, we can make this school year a strong and successful one for every Grizzly!
