Parking Permit Request

Any student driving to school must have a student parking decal provided by the student center; violators will be towed at the owner's expense. See Ms. Anderson in the Student Center to obtain a decal. Parking passes are $25, exact cash or check made payable to PISD.

VOE Requests

A VOE approved by PISD is needed for all students to take driver’s education, or to get a learner's permit or driver’s license. After the request is completed, the approved VOE will be emailed to the email address on the request. Be sure to check your "Clutter" or "Junk" mailboxes. Allow a minimum of 48 business hours for the request to be processed.

10th Annual Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program 10th Annual Plano Mayor's Summer Internship Program

Beginning Monday, Feb. 6, Plano ISD sophomores and juniors may apply for the competitive Plano Mayor’s Summer Internship Program. Presented by Capital One, the eight-week “learn-and-earn” program, which runs from June 12–Aug. 4, provides teens with paid internships at some of the area’s most sought-after organizations, from national headquarters and government entities to small businesses, local charities and nonprofits. The deadline to apply is March 6. Students earn a minimum of $12 per hour working 20-40 hours per week.

Only the first 400 applications will be considered, so students are encouraged to apply early.

For questions or to apply, please visit planomayorsinterns.org.

Please do not move the barrels that are in the athletic/rear parking area of the school. They are located in a specific place for traffic control. When they are moved, the school custodian has to spend additional time locating them and placing them back where they belong.

Parking on Campus Parking on Campus

zoom_out_map

This is a reminder that ALL cars on campus must have a parking tag visible hanging from the rearview mirror. Cars on campus without parking tags may receive a fine and/or be towed at the owner's expense. If you have a car and have not gotten your parking tag, please see Ms. Anderson in the Student Center for information on how to get a tag.

Student Badges Student Badges

All students should now have a school-issued student ID badge. Plano ISD policy requires they be worn at all times on campus and while attending school events. Please assist the campus in reminding your student to bring their badge with them daily, and wear it around their neck on a lanyard. Students who are cited three times for failure to wear a badge will receive one lunch detention, on their fourth citation they will receive two lunch detentions, and on their fifth citation, they will receive a Friday Night Live, which is served from 4:30-7:30 pm on Friday evenings. The administration will also conduct random badge checks in the hallways and classrooms at various times during the school day. Students who are out of compliance and are addressed by an administrator during these checks will receive detention regardless of their current number of infractions. Lost badges may be replaced in the Student Center for $5. Wearing badges is a vital campus safety measure and we appreciate the cooperation of students and families in keeping our campus secure.

Chromebooks Chromebooks

zoom_out_map
The district expectation is that each student brings their charged, school-issued Chromebook every day. Personal devices cannot be used for online assessments. The library has 9 loaner Chromebooks that may be checked out and returned at the end of the school day. Students are allowed 3 checkouts per nine-week grading period. Once that limit is met a student will no longer be able to borrow a Chromebook.

Attendance Information Attendance Information

Any time a student misses school resulting from personal illness, illness or death in the family, quarantine, weather or road conditions making travel dangerous, or any other unusual cause acceptable to the principal, the absence will be considered excused. Any student out of school for reasons other than those listed above will be considered truant, and the absence will be unexcused.

Please remember a student cannot self-report an absence.

ABSENCES DUE TO ILLNESS

If a student is ill and will be missing school please call Jasper’s absence hotline at

469-752-7400, press 3 to leave a message for Teresa Brown, our attendance clerk. If your student has tested positive for COVID, please also inform Nurse Dottie Jordan at 469-752-27409 or at dottie.jordan@pisd.edu

ABSENTEE NOTES

When a student is absent and returns to school, by state attendance laws, he or she must present a written note from the parent or guardian even if a parent or guardian called the attendance line. The note should include:

  • Student name
  • Student ID number
  • Reason for the absence
  • Date(s) of absence(s)
  • Phone number where the parent or guardian may be reached

Notes from a doctor may be submitted in lieu of a parent note. Notes should be given to the attendance office before 9:00 a.m. on the day the student returns. After three school days, notes may not be accepted, and the absences may be deemed unexcused. Absences from school to extend holidays are discouraged. Be sure to check the school calendar prior to making travel arrangements or purchasing tickets. Excessive tardies and unexcused absences will result in truancy filings. See school board policy FEA Legal for more details.

CHECKING IN and OUT

If students must leave school during school hours, a note from the parent or legal guardian must be sent to the attendance office the morning of the absence, so the student can get a pass to leave the classroom. The note should state the time the student will be picked up. Anyone who picks a student up during the day may be asked for identification; students will not be allowed to leave campus with an individual who is not on record as being able to pick up the student from school or without explicit parent permission to release the student to another individual. Students must come to the attendance office to meet the parent or guardian who is signing the student out. Upon returning to school, a note excusing the absence must be turned into the attendance office. Students who become ill during the school day must report to the clinic. Students are truant if they do not check out properly. Students must sign in and out with the attendance office even if the student is leaving during passing periods.

FAMILY VACATIONS/TRIPS/ EXTENDED ABSENCES

Students must get advance approval from their administrator in order for make-up work to be allowed and for planned extended absences. A student's parent or guardian should submit an absence request form to the administrator at least one week prior to the absence in order for allowable make-up work to be considered. Approval is granted on a case-by-case basis. These forms can be obtained from the attendance office. When allowed, students will be expected to make up all of their work in a timely manner.

Whether ordered by the student or the parent, food deliveries from vendors will not be accepted. Any cost for a rejected delivery is the responsibility of the student and their family. Only food delivered to campus directly by the parent is allowed. Any food that the parent does NOT hand deliver will be collected at the time of delivery, and the student can pick the food up after school.

Student Athletes Driving Form Student Athletes Driving Form

Athletes driving themselves between Jasper and Plano West must have a Campus-to-Campus Driving Form on file with the district before they are allowed to transport themselves. The form can be picked up from Coach Zastoupil. The form authorizes the student to drive themselves only; no passengers are allowed in the car. The form will be approved by various PISD staff members and will ask the athlete to provide two contact phone numbers (not the student), their sport, vehicle description, license plate number (no temporary tags), and a parent signature. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email Coach Zastoupil at 469-752-7460 or richard.zastoupil@pisd.edu .
