College Fair
The Southern Maryland College Fair is happening on Thursday, October 8 at the Hollywood Fire House in St. Maryβs County. Juniors and seniors are invited to attend a field trip to the college fair. This is a great opportunity to connect with admissions representatives from over 50 colleges.
To attend, students must turn in a signed permission slip and $3 (to help offset transportation costs) to Ms. Piatt in the counseling office. Sign up will be first come, first served β we can only accommodate 40 students on this trip! Students can pick up a copy of the permission slip from their English teacher or in the counseling office. Permission slips are due by September 23 or when the trip fills up, whichever comes first.
All students and parents are also invited to attend the evening session of the college fair (from 5 β 7 PM at the Hollywood Fire House) on their own.
Students are asked to register for the college fair on Strive Scan prior to attending the fair. This enables students to create a profile and then easily share their contact information with colleges of their choosing at the fair. Students can register for Strive Scan online at https://app.strivescan.com/registration. It shouldn't take longer than 5 minutes to register!
Please reach out to Ms. Piatt with any questions.

Monitoring Student Grades
Parents have access to both HAC and Schoology β these are two great resources that can help you to keep track of your studentβs grades and assignments. HAC gives you a real picture of their current grades and missing assignments, and Schoology works similarly. Schoology can even tell you if your student has submitted an assignment and the teacher hasnβt yet graded it. Check out the attached guide to learn more about how to utilize Schoology. If you need assistance with your HAC or Schoology account, please contact Mrs. Kruder at kruders@calvertnet.k12.md.us.
