Spotlight Spotlight

On Monday, our kindergarten classrooms celebrated the launch of their All About writing unit by inviting families into the classroom to learn about the exciting work ahead. Students are beginning their journey as informational writers and will be creating expert topic books on subjects they know well. We look forward to watching our young authors research, write, and share their expertise throughout this unit.

Who Lives in the Garden? Wonder Studio Study

Check out a few pictures from when 1AC went to the garden and used tools like magnifying glasses and binoculars to examine and look for evidence of the different types of animals, insects, and birds that contribute to and benefit from the ecosystem of the DW Garden. So far, students have observed a woodchuck, red-tailed hawk, clover mites, and more! They also found evidence of habitats for ants and birds!

Field Day Volunteers Needed!

Field Day is just around the corner, and we are looking for volunteers to help make the day a success! This year, all activities will be organized by our amazing Physical Education team, and we would love some extra hands to assist at each station.

Families are welcome to sign up to volunteer during their child's Field Day or attend their child's event and volunteer for another grade level. As a reminder, all grown-ups are welcome to attend Field Day and cheer on our students. Sign up for a time slot here!

DW Field Day is on June 22nd with a rain date on June 24th.

Thank you for helping us create a fun, memorable day for everyone!

Harbor Island is getting a makeover, and the Village of Mamaroneck wants to hear from you!

Community members are invited to take a short online survey to share their thoughts on what improvements they would like to see at Harbor Island Park.

Your feedback will help guide future planning efforts and ensure the park continues to serve the needs of residents, visitors, and the broader community.

The survey is open now and responses will be accepted through June 30, 2026.

Safety Reminders for After School~

1. We have noticed students playing after school near the parking lot and around the dumpster area. To help ensure everyone's safety, we ask that caregivers provide active supervision of children who remain on school grounds after dismissal and encourage play only in safe, designated areas.

The parking lot and dumpster areas present potential safety hazards and are not appropriate places for children to play. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep all students safe after school.

2. Our neighbors have shared concerns about children playing along the property line near the side of our building, adjacent to the second-grade dismissal area. This location includes a rock wall and a steep incline, creating a potential risk of falls and injury.

We ask that caregivers closely supervise children after dismissal and remind them to remain in safe, designated areas while on or near school grounds. We appreciate your partnership in helping us maintain a safe environment for all students and in being respectful of our neighbors' property.
