A Message From Mrs. Salas: A Message From Mrs. Salas:

Dear Runyan Families,

Our students had a fantastic time celebrating Read for a Better Life in their PJs! Thank you for your support and for sending popcorn to make this day even more fun! We encourage all children to keep reading every day—it makes a big difference!

Our PTO Fall Fundraiser is Here! Information about the fundraiser will be sent to you on Tuesday, September 23.

Open House: Thursday, September 25th
There will be two identical sessions for each class: 5:10 PM and 5:50 PM.

  • If you have two children, you can attend one child’s class at 5:10 and the other at 5:50.

  • If you only need to attend one class, you’re welcome to come to either session and leave once the presentation is finished.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Don't forget to follow us on Facebook. We post updates, reminders, and campus happenings. @RunyanCISD

Regards,

Anel Salas, Principal

Backpacks:

  • Students should bring their backpack every day to school.
  • They should have two backpack tags (Smart tag and regular tag).
  • It's important to keep both tags attached to their backpack as we use them for dismissal daily.
  • When students do not have a tag, they slow down our dismissal procedures resulting in late buses or waiting longer in car rider line.

School Hours:

  • School hours are 7:55 to 3:10 again this year.
  • Instruction will begin promptly at 7:55. Students who arrive after 7:55 will be counted tardy.
  • Doors open at 7:10 to support our families. Take advantage of this service and avoid arriving late. Staff members are not available to stay at car rider line after 7:55 a.m.

Tardy Students

  • After the first week of school, students must arrive before 7:55AM to be on time to class.
  • Students arriving after 7:55AM must be checked in by a parent or guardian in the front office.
  • Students eating breakfast at school should arrive no later than 7:45AM

Early Start:

  • In an effort to reduce volume on the morning car rider line and to support parents needing earlier drop off, limited staff will be available to receive students starting at 7:10 AM on Monday, August 18th.
  • Students will sit in the cafeteria and wait until regular arrival time at 7:25. They will then be released to eat breakfast or go to class.
  • Please unload your student as we will have limited staff at the door.
  • Students with behavior struggles or needing high levels of supervision should not be dropped off at 7:10 AM and should wait until normal drop off at 7:25AM.

Dismissal:

  • Please be patient as we work through our car rider line process, as parents learn the traffic pattern, and as bus drivers learn their routes.
  • All car riders will need the 25-26 car rider sign.
  • Our number one priority is for all students arrive to and from school safely.
  • Parents can request additional car rider signs, these will be placed in students' backpacks after the second week of school.

Lunch Visitors:

  • Parents are welcome to sign up to come and eat with their child using the same procedures as last year.

School Meals:

  • Lunch will not be free for students, unless your family qualify.
  • Remember to apply online for free and reduced lunch. Even if your child qualified last year, you need to re-apply every year. APPLY HERE: https://www.myschoolapps.com/

Morning Drop-off

  • Our car rider line will begin accepting students into the building at 7:10 a.m.
  • If you are running late, staying in the car rider line is the most efficient and safe way for your child to arrive. For safety purposes, do not walk across the car rider line. This keeps traffic moving and prevents children from walking in between vehicles. Parents who are dropping their children in the car rider line are focused on their child exiting their vehicle and may not be aware of children crossing.
  • To ensure an efficient flow of traffic, please have your child ready to exit your vehicle. Students should have their needed items easily accessible. Please have your child ready to exit the passenger side of your vehicle. This is the safest and most efficient way for your child to exit. All parents should remain inside their vehicle.

Afternoon pick-up

  • To help expedite the car line and ensure a smoother pickup experience, Runyan staff members will only call names from vehicles in the line on Foster Drive. Please refer to the map below for proper flow of traffic. Please note that we will not be calling cars that are traveling on Cedar Crossing Drive. Parents who do not follow this procedure will be directed to return to the line on Foster Drive so their student can be entered into the system. We appreciate your cooperation!
  • This procedure helps improve the efficiency of our car rider line and reduce wait times for everyone. All cars should be entering Foster Dr. from 1314/Porter Rd. Also, we ask that you do not use private property such as private driveways to turn around when getting in the car rider line.

Walkers are defined as students who will be walking to school instead of riding in a car. For safety, all walkers should use the school sidewalks and enter through the main entrance.

Lunch Visitors Lunch Visitors

Starting Monday, August 25th, we will begin welcoming a limited number of parents to join their child for lunch. We will continue with our procedures just like last year:
  • Only one adult may accompany a child at lunchtime. The adult must be identified within the child's records as a person with access to the child, and she/he will need a photo ID to check-in to the school.

  • The student and his/her adult guest will eat at the table in the Sun Room, near the front office.

  • A reservation is required, which the adult can book by calling the school receptionist at 936-709-2800.

  • Due to space, there is a limit of 5 reservations available for each lunch period.

  • Parents can sign up to join their child for lunch once every week.

Conroe ISD APP Communication Conroe ISD APP Communication

We’re excited to start using a new APP called Conroe ISD TX APP for all two-way communication between families and teachers.

We’ll start slowly to make sure everyone gets comfortable. Please use Rooms for communicating with your child’s teacher—our goal is for all teachers to be fully using Rooms by September 26th, right after Open House.

You can still use email as usual, but please note that other apps like Dojo and Remind will no longer be used for classroom communication.

Thank you for helping us make communication easier and more effective!

Our new Runyan Website is available and information is also available in the Conroe ISD app! This app will take the place of all classroom and school communication for the 2025-2026 school year. It provides parents the opportunity to toggle between different schools in one location and will allow two-way communication with teachers.

  • Download the new Conroe ISD app in your device’s app store and begin customizing the pages and news you want to see.

Additionally, in the coming weeks, you will receive information about our new mass communication system called Alerts. Be on the lookout for texts from 98900 when the new system is implemented. Emails and texts may have a slightly different look, but they’ll still contain all the great information we share. These transitions are part of a bigger initiative to bring efficiency to the District’s communication platforms, and there are more exciting updates to come!

Free Breakfast for the 25-26 School Year Free Breakfast for the 25-26 School Year

We are excited to announce that for the 2025–2026 school year, all students at Runyan Elementary School are eligible to receive a free breakfast at school each day, regardless of household income.

This is a statewide effort to ensure children begin the school day well-nourished and ready to learn. We encourage all families to take advantage of this opportunity to support their child’s health and academic success.

Please note: Please note that lunch will not be free unless your family qualifies. We strongly encourage parents to complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application online. This determines eligibility for free or reduced-price lunch meals. Www.myschoolapps.com
