A Message from the Principal

We made it through the first 3 days of school! It was great seeing all of the students again! We spent our days discussing classroom expectations and routines as well as school wide expectations. It is important to teach and practice these so we are able to have a smooth and successful year that is full of kindness, fun together and learning.

I am including the reminders I sent out prior to our return to school. Please take time to review these for yourself and with your child. We want to make sure all parents are aware of these expectations as we have discussed them with the students this week and will continue to discuss them. If we can work together to hold our children to higher standards, expect them to follow rules and expectations and treat each other with kindness and respect we will have an amazing year.

Couple of reminders as we get back into the swing of school.

1. We do not allow energy drinks- no Alani, monsters, celsius, red bull etc. If students bring them into the building and they are open they will be asked to throw them away. If they are not opened they will be taken to the office with the students name written on them for them to pick up at the end of the day.

2. Cell phones are turned off and in their backpack for the entire day. Smart watches need to be in school time mode. - Students in violation of this will have their phone/smart watch turned into the office. School is a time to interact with peers, teachers and engage in the learning not on a device.

3. Headphones must plug in to their device. Students can not have any bluetooth headphones.

4. Hands need to be kept to themselves. I know it is all fun to horseplay around with our friends but accidents happen and people get hurt. This can all be avoided if we keep our hands to ourselves.

5. Inappropriate language- please remind your students that cussing, name calling (even if we are joking) and any other language that a student or staff member deems inappropriate will not be allowed and the students will be calling home.

Devices Devices

Some chromebooks were handed out today if we had all the necessary paperwork and fees paid. If your fees were paid or forms were turned in, in the afternoon your child might not have gotten their chromebook yet but will get it on Monday.

It is important that all fees are paid and forms are turned in so students have their device. They will use these in a lot of their classes daily and in order to prevent them from getting behind in their work we need to have all fees and forms signed before we can distribute them.

7th and 8th graders are responsible for their chromebooks- when they checked out with me they verified that they had their charger and that their number on their charger matched the tag number on their ID badge. This number matches the number on the back of their chromebook and is assigned just to that student. IT is their responsibility to take care of the school issued device. If items are not turned back in at the end of the year they will need to pay for any missing items.

If a chromebook gets damaged it is important that it gets reported to the office so we can get it sent in for repairs.

5th and 6th grade students do not take home their iPads they will stay at the school and will be turned in at the end of the day. These students must have their fees and forms turned in though in order to get access to their device.

Getting Snackie Getting Snackie

Middle School students tend to get very snackie throughout the day as I am sure you found out over they summer! Also if they are athletes or in weights or fitness on top of their PE class they need more food to fuel their body and their brain to help them learn and grow.

Ms. Andrews and I spend a lot of our own money to help feed students. If you are able and would like to donate some packaged snacks to help us feed students throughout the day that would be great.

You can drop them off at the office.

Reminder we MUST have your physical on file at the school before your child can practice. IF you have not dropped it off it must be brought in by 2pm on Monday the 18th or handed directly to the coach at the start of practice in order for your child to be able to practice.

Fees need to be paid too, fees are $45 per sport.

Pick Up and Drop Off Protocol Pick Up and Drop Off Protocol

We want all students to be safe when exiting vehicles and buses and walking to the building. Please follow the following procedures when dropping your child off at school and picking them up.

Morning drop-off- Please drop off at the sidewalk/unloading zone on the South side of the school, go through the South parking lot to get to the sidewalk/unloading zone. There is plenty of room for multiple cars to unload in the morning. Please keep the flow of traffic moving.

NO Vehicles can be in the Bus Loading Zone, once the buses have all unloaded about 7:45 you will be able to pull through the bus zone and unload in the main parking lot, please pull all the way in and stay in a line.

Afternoon pickup-

The first 7 cars will be allowed to park in the loading zone, then from there we will have cars fill in lane 1, then lane 2 etc. once the cars in the loading zone have their students and are loaded up and gone we will send the cars in lane 1 to pull into the loading zone, then lane 2 and then 3 etc.

We will have someone at the entrance directing traffic so they pull in where they need to and then another at the head of the lane (where the numbers are in the picture) to direct the next lane to pull to the loading zone. Cones might not always be in the parking lot but please continue to make lanes.

You are not allowed to park and pick up your child in the main school parking lot. Students must be picked up in the loading zone.
