LISD Families,

We recently passed the 100th day of school, and it’s a meaningful moment to pause and reflect on all that has already been accomplished across LISD. One hundred days of learning, successes, accomplishments and showing up for students, day after day, all in service of helping every child in LISD learn and lead.

The months ahead are some of the most memorable of the school year. From campus events and performances to competitions, celebrations, and end-of-year milestones, we look forward to watching our students shine and celebrating all they’ve accomplished.

As we continue listening through staff and community surveys, one message comes through clearly, which is that supporting our teachers and staff must remain our top priority. In fact, more than half of respondents in last month’s newsletter poll identified teacher quality and support as the most important focus for LISD over the next three years and for student success. That affirmation reinforces what we know to be true: when we invest in our educators, we directly invest in our students.

We also had the opportunity on Feb. 9 to celebrate our campus Teachers of the Year. This outstanding group represents some of the very best educators in LISD, and in Texas. Their dedication, expertise, and heart for students reflect the high-quality teaching happening in classrooms across our district every day.

LISD continues to have a low teacher turnover rate compared to the state average and we are proud of the work to create the One LISD culture over these last several years, and it wouldn’t be possible without the support of our incredible community. Your willingness to share your appreciation for the work they do through our Recognize Someone program is essential to ensuring staff feel valued.

We are incredibly proud of their work and grateful for the difference they make in the lives of our students. Thank you for continuing to partner with us to support the success of our students every step of the way.
