February is always a short month—but it is full at Sharon Elementary! We have many exciting activities planned.

During the first full week of February, we proudly celebrate National School Counseling Week. We are grateful for Ms. Liddell, our school counselor and the support she provides to our students each day—academically, socially, and emotionally.

Throughout February, we will recognize Black History Month. Students will engage in age-appropriate lessons and activities that highlight influential leaders and important historical moments.

We will also celebrate Kindness Week, a favorite at SES! Students will be encouraged to show kindness through words, actions, and everyday choices. Small acts of kindness truly make a big difference in our school community.

We are so proud of our Jaguars and appreciate all you do to support our school.

What is Write Score?
Write Score is an online writing assessment that helps teachers understand how well students are developing their writing skills.

The assessment looks at important areas such as:

• Ideas and content

• Organization

• Word choice

• Sentence structure

• Conventions (spelling, punctuation, grammar)

When will students take it?
Students in grades 2nd–5th will take the Write Score assessment between February 19th -27th

Why do we use Write Score?
Write Score helps teachers identify students’ strengths and areas for growth in writing.

Encouraging your child to write at home—journals, stories, letters, or even responses to books they read—can help build confidence and stamina in writing.

Registration for the 2026-27 Pre-K lottery opens on February 6, 2026, at 8:00 a.m.

Concludes on March 6, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

At Sharon Elementary, we use PBIS – Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports – to help create a safe, respectful, and welcoming school environment where all students can learn and grow. PBIS is a school-wide approach that focuses on teaching and encouraging positive behaviors. Just like students learn math or reading, we believe behavior should be taught, practiced, and celebrated!

As Jaguars, we ROAR. We are Respectful, Organized, Accepting, and Responsible. Please review and remind your child that we want to ROAR every day in the cafeteria, hallways, playground, and in the classroom.

Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First Grade will celebrate with pajamas and hot chocolate on February 27, 2026. Students will need 79 points to participate.

The Third Quarter ROAR Party for Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade will be held on March 12, 2026. The theme will be Spring Fling, and students will need 195 points to attend.

The February Character trait word is Kindness.
