Benton Weekly Update
Testing Continues, Final Month of School!
As April winds down and we welcome the month of May on Friday, the realization settles in that we have one month left of school. We can tell that students are beginning to anticipate their summer vacation but it's important to maintain focus and standards for behavior as we close out the school year.
SBAC testing continues this week in Math classes. We want students to feel confident and prepared to do their individual best, and recommend they get a good night's sleep, have a nutritious breakfast to start their day, and get to school on time. During testing, students may not use any Smart devices. Phones will be powered off and kept in the students' backpacks, if they wear Smart watches, those will also need to be placed in the backpack (maybe leave them at home for the next 2 weeks?) Students may not wear Google glasses during testing or at school any time.
Mark your calendars for our Kaleidoscope VAPA Festival on Friday, May 15th. We like to say that Kaleidoscope is like Coachella, but at Benton! Beginning at 4:30pm with Visual Arts exhibits, there will be multiple stages for performances beginning at 5pm, food trucks, and a robotics Rooma Rumble. This is an event for the entire family and community.
We have two parent workshops this week on Mental Health and Behavior, check the schedule below for more information.
Have you purchased a yearbook? We've only sold about 150 (list linked here) we only ordered 375, and we have 700 students. Buy it now to ensure that you get one; once they're sold out, they're sold out!
Are you interested in trying out for the Cheer or Song teams? We are revamping our Cheer program for next year, adding a Song team, and both will be under the direction of Ms. Estrada and Ms. Truesdell. Information packets will be posted online and available in the school office later this week. Tryout clinics for Cheer & Song will be on Thursdays after school beginning April 23.
Make it a great week!
