Randall Weekly Update - Week 30

πŸπŸŽ‰πŸCotton Candy Celebration

Our 4th and 8th grade students earned themselves a Cotton Candy Celebration, as they successfully completed their Science and Social Studies Forward Tests throughout the past 3 weeks. We will extend this opportunity to all students in Grades 3 - 8 over the next 3 weeks as we take on ELA and Math Forward Testing. Classrooms can earn the Cotton Candy Celebration by having perfect attendance throughout testing. This wouldn't be possible without the support of our amazing PTC, led by Katie Tobin, who generously whipped up the cotton candy yesterday! See the fun pictures below!

πŸŽ“πŸ†πŸ“ Forward Testing - Grade 3 - 8

Did you know that Randall ranks in the top 78th percentile for Student Achievement in relation to all other K-8 schools in the state? Similarly, Randall's overall 2024-25 State Report Card ranking is 173 out of 337 (top 51st percentile) for all K - 8 schools in the state. This ranking and other achievement metrics are, in part, measured by the annual, spring Forward Test. The Forward Test is a series of tests that all students across the state of Wisconsin participate in. The Forward Test is designed to gauge how well students are doing in relation to the Wisconsin Academic Standards. At Randall, we take great pride in holding our students to the highest expectations that they deserve. We strive to improve our student learning outcomes and, with Forward testing right around the corner, here are a few things families can do to help students prepare:

  • Encourage your child(ren) to get a good night's sleep
  • Encourage our children to give their best effort and take their time
  • Charge chromebooks overnight so that they are ready to go in the morning (we had many uncharged chromebooks last year that died during testing and students had to restart)
  • Arrive to school on time by 7:50 AM
  • Electronics, including wearables, cell phones and bluetooth headphones must remain in lockers or in backpacks on hooks throughout testing and the school day (this is not a new school rule)

Thank you for your partnership and encouragement at home to help prepare our students for this year's round of Forward testing! To read more about Forward Testing, please see this linked brochure.

πŸ«πŸ’πŸ“šSchool Librarian Appreciation Day

We are so grateful to have Mrs. Hebron on our Randall staff and today we take a special moment in our weekly Smore dedicated to her. If you see the weekly joke next to the Upcoming Events, that is courtesy of Mrs. Hebron. Our students benefit from her extensive knowledge and background in Library Science. Just this week, Mrs. Hebron meshed the art of poetry with the titles of books in our library, as students created their own unique Found Poems. If you have a chance, thank Mrs. Hebron the next time you see her!

I look forward to continue working with you and our students throughout the 2025-26 school year. It is my goal to be as clear and supportive as possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly at agarcia@randall.k12.wi.us with any questions or concerns.

From Ms. Roth

Hi Randall Families!

This week in our Character Strong curriculum we started a new topic; COURAGE. When I asked students what they thought the word "courage" meant, one of them replied, "is it like being brave?" - I thought that was the best way to describe it! We talked about how courage/being brave means that we try doing something that scares us. We came up with examples like climbing a rock wall, crossing the monkey bars, or talking to a new friend. We also talked about how there are times where we HAVE to have courage like when there's a thunderstorm, the first day of school, or flying in an airplane. I challenged my Guidance classes to do one thing this week that they needed to have courage to do. I'm excited to hear some stories next week & to continue exploring this topic over the next few weeks!

Have a wonderful Easter weekend! :)

Mrs. Roth

Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall Speak Up Speak Out Program for Randall

Randall School is pleased to announce the launch of the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT confidential tipline as part of our school safety efforts. Tiplines are used to identify threats to schools, and for concerns impacting school age youth such as bullying, drug use, suicidal thoughts and more. Schools that promote and use tiplines have less violence overall. The SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT (SUSO) tipline is run by the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Office of School Safety. Parents and students, this tool is available for anyone to use to help keep the Randall Community safe!

Randall students will engage in learning about how to advocate for their own (and others') safety and well-being over the next month in partnership with our counselor, Mrs. Roth, as well as other members of our student services team. We encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of communicating when/if they feel that their safety may be compromised.

Here is a LINK to an informational flyer about Speak Up Speak Out.

Thank you in advance for all of your support!
