Read Across America Week

Southwest ECHS students participated in a week of fun from February 28th - to March 4th for Read Across America week. A year-round initiative promoted by the National Education Association celebrating a nation of diverse readers. A flyer promoting the week's events was posted to social media.

The program includes opportunities for collaboration among members of the learning community and opportunities to help learners become independent users and producers of ideas and information. Principle 2. The librarian works collaboratively with students, teachers, and the community to promote local, state, and national reading initiatives that encourage learners to read, write, view, speak and listen for understanding and enjoyment.

The PSJA Southwest library held a book giveaway for all staff during Read Across America Week. School Library Month

This year my Spirit of PSJA goal was to build relationships with the students and staff. As I reflect on this school year, I am most proud of the connections and impact I have made with students. Being new to the Southwest campus, I have met and collaborate with most of the staff. I look forward to many more amazing years with my Javelina family.
